The event not only demonstrates T&T's determination and potential with its cross-border energy investment strategy, but also demonstrates the role of the private economic sector in ensuring national energy security.
More than 6 months of lightning speed in your land
Previously, on January 9, within the framework of the Vietnam - Laos Investment Cooperation Conference, the Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment awarded the concession contract for the Savan 1 wind power project to Savan 1 Wind Power Company Limited (a member unit of T&T Group).
Just one day after the event, the construction of the transmission line to Vietnam was urgently deployed. The transmission line has a total length of 52.56km, with 117 pillars and 30 anchorages running in the neighboring country. The starting point of the line is located at G7, next to the border of the two countries. The end point connects to the 220kV transformer station of the Savan 1 factory.
Overcoming many difficulties in terms of terrain, weather, import and export procedures..., with great determination, on February 10, the foundation system was deployed. By mid-March, nearly 500 officers and workers began erecting poles in the field. 2 months later, the first meters of wire were pulled up to high points.
On the evening of August 31, right before the National Day, the last line was pulled across the Sepon River, the natural border between Vietnam and Laos, completing the transmission connection from Savan 1 to the first pole of the 220kV line on the Vietnamese side.

According to the leader of Savan 1 Wind Power Company, this is an important milestone to form the entire transmission line connecting Savan 1 wind power plant to the 220KVA Lao Bao transformer station, ensuring the plant's on-time power on-time (COD) before December 31.
T&T Group's early move in the spirit of Resolution 70
In a larger context, T&T Group's meteoric rise to the land of a million elephants also demonstrates the private sector's aspiration to accompany the country in developing sustainable energy; creating a foundation for the goal of double-digit growth in the future.
Recently, General Secretary To Lam signed and issued Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW on ensuring national energy security until 2030, with a vision to 2045. In addition to strategic contents, the Resolution focuses on prioritizing the exploitation and thorough and effective use of renewable energy sources, new energy, and clean energy; at the same time, encouraging and creating favorable conditions for economic sectors, especially the private sector, to participate in energy development.
The resolution also advocates expanding electricity and gas grid connectivity within the ASEAN region; at the same time, it encourages Vietnamese enterprises to invest abroad to proactively import electricity, gas and oil.
The resolution opens up opportunities for private enterprises to become the core force in energy investment, production and trading. In particular, the private sector will not only participate in power generation, but also expand into transmission, distribution, services and technology.
Looking at T&T Group's journey in Laos, it can be seen that this group has been proactive from very early on by actively participating in key stages, in accordance with the spirit of the Resolution.
The idea of investing in Savan 1 also shows this. The project concession contract was signed in January, agreeing to let Savan 1 Wind Power Company design, build, own and operate the project. This means that the member unit of T&T Group has the right to participate deeply, playing a leading role in terms of capital, engineering, technology... in the clean power project with a total capacity of up to 495MW.
Second, the project's goal is to export electricity to Vietnam. This goal is in line with the orientation of Resolution 70; at the same time, it realizes T&T's commitment to the cross-border energy investment strategy, contributing to increasing domestic electricity supply.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy General Director of T&T Group, Chairwoman of Savan 1 Wind Power Company Limited, said: "Savan 1 Wind Power Plant will be a pioneer project and a foundation for T&T Group to continue investing in many other energy projects in Laos in the coming time."
In the long term, T&T Group aims to achieve a total power generation capacity of 16,000-20,000 MW by 2035, accounting for about 10% of Vietnam's power system capacity, most of which comes from clean energy sources such as solar power, wind power, LNG power, biomass power and green hydrogen/ammonia, aiming towards the common goal of bringing Vietnam to net zero emissions by 2050.
Up to now, the corporation of businessman Do Quang Hien has invested in a total cumulative capacity of 2,800 MW; of which 10 wind and solar power plants have been completed and put into operation in many provinces and cities across the country, with a total installed capacity and connection to the national grid reaching nearly 1,000 MW.

T&T Group is cooperating with Korean partners to deploy the Hai Lang LNG power project Phase 1 with a capacity of 1,500 MW, investment capital of about 2.5 billion USD, expected to operate in 2029.
In expanding relations with advanced technology partners in the energy sector, one of the important tasks emphasized by Resolution 70, Mr. Hien's group also proactively joined hands with many "big guys" such as Hanwha, Kogas, Kospo, SK E&S (Korea); erex, Marubeni, Sojittz, JPower (Japan); Cospower, Gedi, Goldwind (China), BP (UK)... Standard Charted Bank has committed to a 6 billion USD funding package for T&T Group's green energy projects.
Returning to the story of Resolution 70-NQ-TW, many experts affirmed that this newly effective Resolution will be a pillar, creating an "energy fulcrum", helping Vietnam realize its aspiration for rapid and sustainable growth and become a developed country by 2045. On that hopeful journey, there will be the footprint of the private enterprise sector, typically T&T Group.
