Criminal detention of woman driving car to steal gold

On May 12, the Investigation Police Agency of Cau Ngang District ( Tra Vinh ) said that the unit is temporarily detaining Tran Thi Ly (35 years old, residing in An Khanh Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) to investigate the act of property theft. This is a suspect in the gold theft in Tra Vinh.

Previously, on May 5, Cau Ngang District Police received a report from the owner of a gold shop in Minh Thuan A Hamlet, Cau Ngang Town, Cau Ngang District about the shop being robbed of 5 gold necklaces (18K and 24K) with a total weight of 16 taels. Immediately after that, the police force arrived at the scene to verify the incident and coordinated with the Criminal Police Force of Tra Vinh Province Police to investigate and arrest the suspect.

By professional measures, on May 11, Cau Ngang District Police and the Criminal Police Department of Tra Vinh Province Police discovered a car with license plate 51A - 727.28 circulating in Cau Ngang Town with suspicious signs, so they stopped the vehicle for inspection; at the same time, invited the woman in the car to the police station for clarification.

At the police station, the woman identified herself as Tran Thi Ly and initially admitted to stealing the gold. After checking, the police made a record of the temporary confiscation of 1 gold necklace, 1 mobile phone and more than 400 million VND.

The above gold theft case is being further investigated and handled by the Cau Ngang District Police Department in coordination with Tra Vinh Provincial Police according to the provisions of law.
