Tan Trao - A place that marks historical milestones

It has been 80 years since the August Revolution succeeded, but each time visiting Tan Trao, every Vietnamese person seems to be immersed in the heroic atmosphere of the historical years. The echoes from the past in Tan Trao are not only valuable assets for each generation of people to proudly build their homeland, but also a driving force for the Party Committee and the government to promote the lessons of revolutionary history, and make continuous efforts to build a government that serves the people.

In May 1945, facing the rapid developments and demands of the revolutionary situation, Uncle Ho moved from Cao Bang to Tuyen Quang to lead the revolutionary movement nationwide. He chose Tan Trao commune as the capital of the liberated zone, the revolutionary base. Here, the Party Central Committee and Uncle Ho made important decisions, successfully leading the general uprising to seize power throughout the country in August 1945.

Ms. Lo Thi Tam, tour guide at Tan Trao National Special Relic Site, said: Here, after a serious illness, Uncle Ho advised comrade Vo Nguyen Giap with the immortal words: "Now the favorable opportunity has come, no matter how much sacrifice, even if we have to burn the entire Truong Son range, we must resolutely gain independence."

Tan Trao - The Capital of the Liberated Zone played a huge role in the success of the August Revolution, being the center of commanding the general uprising and seizing power nationwide. Every year, many tourists come to the Tan Trao Special National Relic Site as a journey back to the source. Especially, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Tan Trao National Congress, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the relic site welcomed thousands of visitors from all over the country.

Tan Trao today is wearing a new and vibrant appearance. It is easy to see that spacious houses are built close together, along with a system of asphalt and concrete roads reaching all villages and hamlets. The average income reaches 52 million VND/person/year, far exceeding the previous level. The commune maintains national standards on health , the rate of households meeting cultural standards is up to 90%, and 22/22 villages meet cultural standards.

Tan Trao has been maximizing the advantages of historical relics to develop sustainable tourism . In the first 6 months of 2025, Tan Trao Special National Monument welcomed over 500,000 visitors. This is an impressive number, showing the strong attraction of this historical destination.

Along with tourism, agriculture is also an important pillar in the economic development of Tan Trao. The Party Committee and the commune government pay special attention to propaganda and mobilization of people to change the structure of crops and livestock, apply science and technology to improve productivity and product quality. Many local agricultural products have met OCOP standards, affirming their brand and value such as Tan Trao honey achieving 3-star OCOP, leaf yeast wine and especially Vinh Tan tea products achieving 4-star OCOP standards.

Comrade Duong Minh Tuan, Chairman of Tan Trao Commune People's Committee affirmed: "In recent years, Tan Trao has undergone comprehensive changes, achieving important achievements, especially in the fields of economic, cultural and tourism development, contributing to improving people's lives. Tan Trao is proud to be the first commune in Tuyen Quang province to be recognized as meeting new rural standards. After merging to establish a new commune, despite many difficulties and challenges, the Party Committee, government and people of Tan Trao are determined to promote the revolutionary tradition, solidarity, and join hands to build an increasingly prosperous and civilized homeland."

Tan Trao today is growing strongly, becoming a bright spot in economic and social development on the solid foundation of revolutionary tradition. Echoes from the heroic past still resound, blending with the beat of new vitality, creating a Tan Trao with comprehensive and sustainable development.
