Military doctors of Coast Guard Region 3 promptly provided first aid to a fisherman bitten by a sea snake.

According to information from the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, recently, the medical team of Ship 276 under the Region Command promptly rescued a fisherman who was bitten by a sea snake while fishing.

Accordingly, during the patrol, inspection and control at sea, Ship 276 received a distress signal from fishing boat KG-91423TS because on board was a fisherman named Le Van Tri (residing in My Phu Dong commune, An Giang province) who was bitten by a sea snake while fishing. Immediately upon receiving the information, Ship 276 quickly maneuvered to the fishing boat's location and deployed a boat to bring the medical team to the rescue. Upon examination, the patient was conscious but mildly agitated, had high blood pressure, rapid pulse, and the bitten arm was painful and swollen.

The medical team promptly applied pressure to the wound, administered IV fluids, provided pain relief, anti-inflammatory drugs, and lowered blood pressure for the patient. After first aid, the fisherman's health was temporarily stable, but there were still many potential risks, so the medical team on Ship 276 requested the fishing boat to quickly bring the patient ashore for further intensive treatment.

The timely and responsible actions of the officers and staff of Ship 276 helped the fishermen overcome the critical situation. This affirmed the role of the Vietnam Coast Guard in accompanying and supporting fishermen to confidently go out to sea, stick to the sea, and contribute to firmly protecting the sovereignty and national interests at sea.
