HNN.VN - On July 11, the City People's Committee issued Document No. 9145/UBND-NN requesting departments, branches, sectors and local authorities to focus on drastically and synchronously implementing solutions to prevent and control epidemics in pigs and swine streptococcus disease, which is on the rise rapidly.

Strengthen inspection at livestock and slaughterhouses

Accordingly, the City People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to direct the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to coordinate with local authorities to focus on organizing guidance, urging, and inspecting the prevention and control of animal diseases, especially porcine blue ear disease and African swine fever. Strengthen information and propaganda in many forms about the nature of streptococcus suis, blue ear disease, African swine fever, the risk of disease outbreak and spread, and measures to prevent and control diseases for pig herds. Proactively monitor the disease situation closely, detect early, warn and direct the thorough handling of outbreaks, prevent the disease from spreading widely; promptly and fully report on the disease situation from the village/residential group level to the commune and city levels according to regulations. At the same time, implement the autumn vaccination plan, ensuring that at least 80% of the total existing livestock herd is vaccinated...

Mr. Le Van Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that, implementing the official dispatch of the City People's Committee, the unit is coordinating with the Department of Health to organize investigations, monitoring, and tracing the epidemiological origin related to cases of Streptococcus suis infection according to the coordination regulations on the implementation of prevention and control of diseases transmitted from animals to humans in the area. At the same time, strengthen the direction of clinical inspection, strictly control animal slaughter at slaughterhouses; resolutely handle cases of sick pigs, suspected sick pigs, and pigs that die due to transportation. Organize propaganda and mobilize organizations and individuals involved in business, trading, slaughtering, preliminary processing, and processing to raise awareness and responsibility in complying with and practicing good slaughtering, preliminary processing, and processing procedures to ensure veterinary hygiene and food safety.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Head of the City Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, the department is also strengthening veterinary and food safety inspections at animal slaughterhouses; will strictly handle the slaughter of sick pigs, pigs that died from epidemics and are not controlled by veterinary staff according to regulations. In particular, the case file will be transferred to the investigation agency if there are signs of criminal violations.

Along with that, the City Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (Steering Committee 389) actively directed functional forces to increase patrols and controls to promptly detect and strictly handle subjects illegally transporting pigs and pig products from abroad into the city.
