Strengthening the work of preventing and overcoming damage caused by natural disasters

(HGO) - The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hau Giang province has just requested the provincial departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, based on their functions, tasks and the actual situation of the locality, to absolutely not allow any interruption in leadership, direction, response and overcoming of consequences of natural disasters during the process of merging the provincial level and organizing local governments at two levels; to be responsible before the Provincial People's Committee for natural disaster prevention, control, search and rescue work in the area; to strictly handle collective and individual responsibilities, especially the heads, if there are violations in the work of preventing, controlling and overcoming consequences of natural disasters.

Authorities have requested localities to promptly overcome damage caused by natural disasters and landslides, as it is the rainy and stormy season.

Direct the development of a plan to perfect the organization and apparatus of the agencies directing, commanding and performing the tasks of natural disaster prevention, control, rescue at the provincial and communal levels. Clearly assign responsibilities to relevant organizations in the process of merging at the provincial level and ending the operation of the district level. Proactively arrange local budgets and mobilize legal resources to overcome problems before the 2025 storm season, especially incidents of dikes, freshwater lakes, telecommunications infrastructure, electricity, drainage and risks identified last year. Ensure communication and power sources to serve the direction and operation of natural disaster prevention and control in all situations, and overcome flooding in urban areas during heavy rains.

Review and update response plans for each type of natural disaster in the new situation. Focus on implementing measures to ensure people's safety and minimize human losses when landslides, floods, and storms occur. Develop a preparedness scenario to respond and protect key points, and avoid being passive or surprised when natural disasters occur...
