According to Giao thong Newspaper reporters at the scene, dozens of workers, engineers and specialized machinery and equipment are being transported into the tunnel area by Project Management Board 85 (investor of the Chi Thanh railway tunnel reinforcement project and other railway tunnels) along with Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch and functional units to reinforce and repair landslides.
Authorities brought machinery inside to fix the landslide.
According to Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch, the initial cause of the landslide was determined to be due to rain in the area in recent days, leading to weak geological layers causing landslides.
Landslide remediation work is being urgently carried out.
The exact time of the incident being resolved is still unknown. Workers are focusing on solutions. Currently, the volume of soil and rock that has collapsed inside the tunnel is about 50m3, completely blocking the area of the iron tunnel.
Learning from the experience of the landslide at Bai Gio tunnel ( Khanh Hoa province), the workers of Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch did not clear the landslide but instead sealed it to create a support base above the tunnel roof.
Accordingly, workers will drill anchors and spray concrete on the tunnel shell to create a solid connection, then clear the soil and rocks below.
Currently, cargo ships are bringing in machinery to prepare to drill anchors at both the South and North ends of the tunnel.
The landslide site has been reached.
Work to repair landslides in Chi Thanh railway tunnel is being carried out urgently.
The railway sector has also made plans to transfer passengers from Tuy Hoa station and La Hai station, ensuring the travel schedule of passengers. The Phu Yen Province Traffic Inspectorate is also present on Provincial Road 641, the section above the Chi Thanh railway tunnel, to regulate traffic.
Previously, at around 10:30 a.m. on May 21, the Chi Thanh railway tunnel, while being closed for renovation, suddenly experienced a landslide on the tunnel ceiling, sealing the tunnel.
At this time, no trains are running. Currently, the authorities are urgently fixing the problem. The Chi Thanh railway tunnel area is currently being invested by Project Management Board 85 ( Ministry of Transport ) to carry out repairs and upgrades.
