On October 17, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department received a python voluntarily handed over by Mr. Ngo Van Danh (in the old Binh Chanh district, now Binh Loi commune, Ho Chi Minh City).
Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Ngo Van Danh said he set up fishing nets in a ditch near his house.
When he checked the coir, he was surprised to find a python inside. Looking up information online, he learned that this was a python - a rare animal that needs to be protected, so he contacted the authorities to hand it over.
"I handed this python over to the forest rangers with the hope that it would be rescued and released back into the forest, to grow and reproduce like other wild animals in the natural environment," said Mr. Danh.
Mr. Danh added that someone asked to keep the python to butcher it, but he refused, preferring to hand it over to the authorities so it could be released back into the forest.
