Blindly idolize

Recently, public opinion was stirred up by the fact that Do Mixi - a streamer (a person who broadcasts live on social media platforms) with millions of followers - cursed, made inappropriate statements, and even used illegal substances during livestreams, but was still invited to participate in TV shows such as "Vietnamese Family Home", "Celebrity Joining the Army 2025"... This behavior is offensive. Many parents are worried because their children consider this character a role model, imitating his speech...
Immediately after that, Hanoi City Police worked with streamer Do Mixi. The main character also apologized, but the way he "admitted his mistake" was still accompanied by vulgar language, making many people wonder: Is a person with such influence really aware of his social responsibility?
More worrying is the “rise” of “internet gangsters” with deviant lifestyles. From Kha Banh, Phu Le to Tien “cheating”…, they became famous thanks to videos showing off their thug lifestyle, playing around, and even teaching how to gamble. Their channels quickly attracted hundreds of thousands, even millions of followers, mainly teenagers. The reason is because many young people mistakenly think that is “class”, “living a good life” to imitate, regardless of the risk of falling.
Need a true role model
Modern society is not lacking in celebrities and it cannot stop young people from idolizing someone. The problem is that admiration must become the driving force for dreams and aspirations to develop, not become a double-edged sword.
Psychologists and social experts say that it is not possible to just ban, but education and guidance are important.
“Families need to have clear 'family rules', setting an example through the parents' own actions. Schools must work closely with parents, creating a clear boundary between right and wrong so that children do not get confused,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hao Quang, Chairman of the Advisory Council for Synthesis and Analysis of Social Opinion of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City.
While many people are concerned about the spread of deviant phenomena, in everyday life, there are still many role models for young people to follow.
Recently, the entrance exam for resident doctors of Hanoi Medical University has attracted the attention of many people because of the appearance of outstanding students with excellent academic performance and the desire to contribute to the community. Many students wish to become good doctors to serve the people, especially in difficult areas with poor medical conditions, dreaming of in-depth research in new fields, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, bringing Vietnamese medicine to catch up with developed countries.
Those are very ordinary and meaningful idol models.
In addition, for celebrities, social responsibility must go hand in hand with "halo". Every action and word can affect millions of people and vice versa. Therefore, they need to be alert in their speech and behavior.
From a management perspective, authorities need to take strict measures, even restrict the activities of famous people who do not have a beautiful lifestyle or good personality...; encourage and support positive content rich in human values.
A good society needs good examples for the young generation to follow. However, each young person needs to learn how to choose and love their idols wisely and most importantly, train themselves to become the best version of themselves.
