On March 13, according to information from the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the Chairman of the People's Committee has just signed and issued a plan to organize the implementation of compensation, support, and resettlement for the Ca Mau Airport Expansion and Upgrade Project (referred to as the project).

100% clean site will be handed over by December 2024
This plan serves as a basis for relevant units to coordinate and implement synchronously; promptly remove difficulties and obstacles during the implementation process.
At the same time, be proactive in assigning and coordinating closely, performing many tasks in parallel, to minimize implementation time.
Ca Mau province is determined to hand over 100% of the project site to the investor by December 31, 2024.
The plan clearly stipulates the time for implementing compensation, support and resettlement such as: Investigation, survey, determination of resettlement needs of the project; determination of resettlement areas; policy for resettlement arrangement (or proposal for cases beyond authority); issuance of investigation, survey, measurement, counting plan and issuance of land recovery notice.
Along with that, it is necessary to conduct measurements and inventories; establish, approve and implement compensation, support and resettlement plans; hand over the site; handle requests, complaints, arising backlogs and actual results of compensation, support and resettlement work.
The People's Committee of Ca Mau province assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, the People's Committee of Ca Mau city, investors and related units to organize and implement the plan to complete it on time.
"Regularly review and promptly report proposals to remove difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of affected organizations, households and individuals," the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province noted.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested the People's Committee of Ca Mau city to allocate resources to focus on the appraisal, issuance of land recovery notices, specific land prices, land recovery decisions, approval of compensation plans, and resettlement support to ensure the schedule as planned.
"Strengthening advocacy and propaganda for affected organizations, households and individuals to comply with policies and guidelines and agree on land recovery earlier than the prescribed time," the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province added.

By 2030, Ca Mau Airport will be a level 4C airport.
Previously, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) sent a document to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises about the plan to expand Ca Mau Airport.
Accordingly, by 2030, Ca Mau Airport will have items such as investing in the construction of a new runway measuring 2,400x45m to the north and 180m away from the existing runway; Building a new taxiway connecting the existing apron and the new runway to the north.
At the same time, the aircraft parking lot will be expanded to accommodate four parking positions for medium-range, narrow-body aircraft (A320/321...).
Along with that, upgrading the existing passenger terminal to accommodate up to 1 million passengers per year and maintaining the civil aviation area's location according to the approved plan. The total estimated investment is 2,253 billion VND (excluding site clearance costs).
According to the Master Plan for the development of the airport system approved by the Prime Minister , the national airport, by 2030, Ca Mau Airport will be a 4C airport, with a capacity of 1 million passengers/year. By 2050, it will be a 4C airport, with a capacity of 3 million passengers/year.
Ca Mau Airport is oriented to ensure receiving mid-range aircraft of airlines such as: A321, A320, A319, Embraer 195.
To upgrade Ca Mau airport to accommodate Airbus A321 aircraft, with a capacity of 1 million passengers/year, an investment of VND2,253 billion is needed, not including site clearance costs.
Ca Mau Airport dates back to the French era, is of level 3C scale, has a runway 1,500m long and 30m wide, and can accommodate aircraft such as ATR72, E190 and equivalent or lower.
The airport has a design capacity of 200,000 passengers/year, serving 150 passengers/peak hour.
For many years, the port has only operated one flight route from Ca Mau to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa with a frequency of 5 flights per week.
From April 29, 2023, the direct flight route Ca Mau - Hanoi will be put into operation with a frequency of three flights per week. Flights are always crowded, but due to limited airport runways, aircraft must reduce capacity and frequency.
