Young singers have made their mark by telling the story of Vietnamese culture to the world.

Returning with the championship award of the international music competition Intervision 2025 held in Moscow (Russian Federation), singer Duc Phuc received a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister.

Take culture as the highlight

At the Intervision 2025 international music competition, the performance "Phu Dong Thien Vuong" helped Duc Phuc make a historic victory, affirming the position of young Vietnamese artists on the world music stage.

The song "Phu Dong Thien Vuong", composed by musician Ho Hoai Anh, was inspired by the poem "Vietnamese Bamboo" by poet Nguyen Duy. With a unique arrangement, combining folk materials with modern rap, the song carries a message of hidden strength, resilience and national pride. Duc Phuc's performance made a strong impression from the music, stage design to costumes, both honoring traditional culture and creating closeness with international audiences.

Talking about the meaning and message he wanted to convey through the work "Phu Dong Thien Vuong", Duc Phuc said: "The reason for choosing the song "Phu Dong Thien Vuong" is because he wanted to bring a story, a performance imbued with Vietnamese identity. "Phu Dong Thien Vuong" is a symbol of the strength, resilience, and tenacity of the Vietnamese people. Phuc and his team combined epic elements with modern music, creating a performance that makes it easier for international friends to access and better understand Vietnamese culture and identity."

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said Duc Phuc was chosen as the representative singer of Vietnam to participate in an international music competition because "Duc Phuc satisfies the criteria: has extensive experience performing on stage, is suitable for the music genre of the competition; chooses a song that captures international music trends, has the ability to create a strong ripple effect and possesses impressive artistic achievements, and has the ability to inspire the public, especially the youth".

Before singer Duc Phuc, Phuong My Chi was also a singer who made an impression with third prize at the music competition "Sing! Asia 2025". Before coming to "Sing! Asia 2025", Phuong My Chi was already a singer who made a strong impression with works imbued with Vietnamese cultural colors and folk music materials composed and arranged by the DTAP group.

When coming to an international playground, Phuong My Chi attaches more importance to promoting Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese identity to the world. Phuong My Chi and DTAP's journey to spread Vietnamese culture at the competition left many special impressions, with performances that invested in both music and cultural messages. For example, in the mashup "Ly Bac Bo", DTAP cleverly took materials from many familiar folk melodies such as "Ba Cong Di Cho Troi Mua", "Ly Cay Da", "Day Xe Bo"... then combined with drum dance and folk dance. It is this creative combination that helps the performance to be both familiar and new, recreating the Northern culture on the international stage.

Or "Buon trang" - a song with the colors of the Central Highlands, rustic yet liberal, expressing the diversity of regional cultures. Phuong My Chi also surprised the audience when she brought Vovinam, a traditional martial art of Vietnam, to the stage, combined with modern arrangements.

This fusion of tradition and contemporary has highlighted the uniqueness of Vietnamese culture, creating a familiar pride for domestic audiences while also arousing curiosity and interest from international friends. Phuong My Chi and DTAP have affirmed Vietnamese identity in a modern, strategic and integration-oriented performance spirit.

A powerful source of inspiration

In the congratulatory letter to Duc Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh clearly stated: "The victory of singer Nguyen Duc Phuc not only brings pride to the individual artist but also affirms the position, creativity and integration capacity of Vietnamese music in the international arena." Duc Phuc confided: "I am extremely happy and proud to have the opportunity to represent Vietnam at Intervision 2025. This is the result of a collective working together, creating and making constant efforts. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the domestic and foreign audiences, the crew, friends and family who accompanied me, as well as the organizing committee for bringing a wonderful playground."

The journey of Phuong My Chi and Duc Phuc once again shows that Vietnamese music has a generation of young singers who choose national culture to tell new stories according to the feelings and perspectives of their generation.
