"Inner region" flourishing
For those who grew up in Thanh My Tay (based on the merger of Thanh My Tay, O Long Vi, and Dao Huu Canh communes), they all feel proud of the innovation of the land that was once closely associated with the two words "inner region".
Mr. Tran Van Minh, residing in Bo Dau hamlet, Thanh My Tay commune, shared: “I grew up in this land with “dusty sun, muddy rain” roads, life lacked all kinds of things. In the past, children had to walk many kilometers to go to school, in the sun and rain, so finding an education was a hundred times more difficult. When the flood season came, our generation had to go to school by boat, so few of us pursued our dreams.”

Now, Mr. Minh feels excited because his hometown has undergone many changes. The central road of the commune has been paved, new schools welcome the young generation to go to school. Thanh My Tay was also recognized as a new rural commune in 2022, with positive changes in the lives of the people.
“As a local, I am really excited because Thanh My Tay commune is no longer the “innermost area” it used to be. When the new provincial road 945 officially opened, it only takes 20 minutes to get to the commune center, so it is no longer as far away as before,” said Mr. Minh.
To get the excitement of the people today, the locality has made efforts to promote potential, take advantage of investment sources to develop infrastructure. Chairman of Thanh My Tay Commune People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Day said: "In the 2020 - 2025 term, with internal resources and the motto "State and People work together", we have built 58 new bridges and rural roads, with a total cost of more than 222.8 billion VND.
In particular, the locality also develops the transportation network in a smooth direction, exploiting the new provincial route 945 to develop trade and services associated with the national historical relic site of Quan Co Tran Van Thanh. At the same time, mobilize all resources to invest in expanding and upgrading rural traffic routes in the area.
Thanh My Tay commune has also made positive progress with high-tech application models in agricultural production. In particular, the commune has more than 2,471 hectares participating in the 1 million hectares of high-quality rice monoculture project, demonstrating the locality's efforts in guiding farmers to green, sustainable production.
Strive for comprehensive development
From the results achieved in the 2020 - 2025 term, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Thanh My Tay commune strive to develop the locality comprehensively, promote the transformation of the agricultural economic structure towards concentrated, sustainable commodity production, and adaptation to climate change. At the same time, take advantage of the traffic infrastructure, where the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway passes through and provincial road 945 connects the province's developed economic zones.
In the 2025 - 2030 term, the Party Executive Committee of Thanh My Tay commune strives to achieve the following targets: Total state budget revenue for 5 years reaches 16,064 billion VND; average annual growth rate of total product value in the area increases by 7%; total social investment capital in the 2026 - 2030 period reaches 941 billion VND; poor households according to multidimensional standards by 2030 are below 2%...
According to Thanh My Tay Commune Party Committee Secretary Pham Hong Phuoc, the locality has identified key tasks in the new term, including: Continuing to build a streamlined Party and political system that operates effectively and efficiently; urgently completing comprehensive land use planning to ensure development requirements; strengthening mineral resource management, environmental protection, proactively preventing natural disasters and climate change; continuing to pay attention to developing the education and training sectors...
“We identify the breakthroughs of the new term as prioritizing the development of high-quality human resources, enhancing the application of information technology, and developing technology infrastructure to meet the requirements of local digital transformation development.
At the same time, synchronously complete infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, call for investment in infrastructure development in adjacent areas, connect Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway to develop trade and services. Regarding agriculture, there will be a strong shift in production structure, application of high technology associated with regional linkages, product consumption...," Comrade Pham Hong Phuoc determined.
Attending and directing the Thanh My Tay Commune Party Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term, Standing Committee member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Tong Phuoc Truong requested the locality to have a correct and full understanding of the position, role, potential and opportunities to successfully carry out the locality's breakthrough tasks in the overall new development space of An Giang province and the region.
“Thanh My Tay commune needs to focus on preserving and promoting cultural traditions and national identity, especially focusing on planning to expand and upgrade the national historical relic site of Quan Co Tran Van Thanh Temple to become a center for service and tourism development, a symbol of patriotism associated with traditional education for generations…”, Comrade Tong Phuoc Truong emphasized.
