In Nha Be commune, hundreds of young people together collected trash, plastic bottles, nylon bags, etc. in Rach Chua Lon 1 and Rach Chua Lon 2. After being fully equipped with protective gear, sacks, and baskets, the groups of young people quickly spread out to collect each floating item.

In the hot noon, in the middle of Rach Chua Lon 2, Tran Kim Du (born in 2003, a member of Nha Be commune) was diligently wading through the mud to pick up trash. Du's two hands quickly scooped up each plastic bottle and nylon bag and put them into the already full basket. Smiling, Du said: "Where there is difficulty, there are young people. No matter how dirty the trash is, it must be brought to the shore and treated to keep the canal clear. Looking at the positive results after the cleanup, I feel that all the hard work is worth it."
On the shore, teammates passed heavy bags of garbage from hand to hand and gathered them to wait for the truck to come and collect them. After just a few hours of hard work, the canal was gradually cleaned up.

At Rach Chua Lon 1, more than 50 volunteers from the Saigon Xanh Club also actively participated in cleaning up the trash. Mr. Nguyen Luong Ngoc, Club Director, said: "We hope that each citizen will raise awareness and not litter in the canals."

As a resident living near Rach Chua Lon 2, Ms. Pham Thi Lien (born in 1960) shared: "Every time it rains heavily, the garbage accumulates, making the water black and smelly. Today, seeing some young people wading in the mud, pulling up piles of garbage, I felt both sad and happy."
Ms. Lien said that in recent years, there have been many volunteer campaigns to collect trash, but only a short time later the pollution recurred. “To solve the problem permanently, we need long-term measures and, more importantly, the awareness of each citizen,” Ms. Lien said.

At the same time, many meaningful projects and tasks bearing the mark of youth volunteerism were also implemented in Nha Be commune such as: planting flowers to create landscapes in flower beds at Cau Trang, responding to the launch of the movement to build the project "City of Colorful Flowers" in the period 2025-2030; organizing the "Green Living" festival at New SaiGon Apartment Complex; propagating about limiting the use of plastic waste and nylon bags at Tran Thi Tao market;...

Comrade Le Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, shared that the projects and activities are a strong affirmation of the Ho Chi Minh City youth about their responsibility and aspiration to join hands for a civilized, modern, and humane city.

Along with the launching ceremony at the city level held in Nha Be commune, 100% of the Youth Unions of wards, communes and special zones in Ho Chi Minh City carried out projects in response to the 161st Green Sunday. More than 37,000 union members and youths registered to participate; more than 55,000 volunteer hours; with a total implementation cost of more than 1.2 billion VND.

During the launching ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Buddhist Sangha presented 20 scholarships (each including 1 million VND, notebooks, and pens) to students who had overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies. The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union presented 30 trees to local residents. The Nha Be Commune Standing Committee presented 10 garbage bins to local households.
