Thanh Phu promotes internal strength and shifts economic structure

High-tech shrimp farming in Thanh Phu district reached over 1,560 hectares, exceeding the target set for the 2021 - 2025 period.

The economy continues to grow

According to Thanh Phu District Party Secretary Chau Van Binh, in the first 6 months of 2025, agricultural production was stable and grew. The total value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production reached 2,104 billion VND, up 3.9% over the same period. Aquaculture area reached 17,785 hectares. Farming output reached more than 25,800 tons. Aquaculture output reached 8,680 tons. Livestock development strongly followed the direction of biosafety. The total pig herd recovered quickly thanks to stable output prices. Disease prevention and disinfection measures were effectively implemented, contributing to stabilizing the supply.

Industry and handicrafts continued to flourish, with production value reaching about 265 billion VND, an increase of more than 40% over the same period. Renewable energy projects, especially wind power, were promoted. The district is coordinating to plan and complete procedures to build An Nhon Industrial Park and Thanh Phong C2 Industrial Cluster, creating a foundation for clean and modern industrial development in the future.

Total retail sales of goods and social service revenue is estimated at over VND2,058 billion, up 13.34% over the same period. The traditional market system continues to be renovated and newly invested, ensuring good service to people's needs. Tourism activities tend to recover. The district has coordinated with experts from Ho Chi Minh City National University to develop a tourism development project until 2030, with a vision to 2050, aiming to form a synchronous and long-term strategy for the smokeless economic sector.

The Dong Khoi program for business start-ups and development has been focused on, with 24 newly established enterprises and 252 business households. The cooperative economy has made positive changes. Cooperatives have strengthened their operations. Many units have registered for support according to the province's policies. By the end of June 2025, the whole district had 47 recognized OCOP products; of which, 6 3-star products were recognized in the first 6 months of 2025.

Investment capital mobilization has been quite good, with total social investment capital estimated at 1,255 billion VND, equivalent to 40.81% of the yearly plan. Disbursement of investment by the end of June 2025 is about 64.3 billion VND, reaching 40.73% of the plan. Rural transport infrastructure continues to receive attention, with 8.73km of newly built concrete roads, with a total investment of more than 36 billion VND. Electricity, irrigation and water supply systems have been renovated and upgraded, increasingly meeting the production and living needs of the people.

Key solution groups

Faced with practical requirements, the tasks set for the last 6 months of 2025 are very important and decisive. Thanh Phu District Party Secretary Chau Van Binh determined to continue effectively implementing key groups of solutions, starting from improving leadership and management capacity, closely following the spirit of "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Creativity - Development". The arrangement of the organizational apparatus and consolidation of the staff after the merger of administrative units were carried out synchronously, focusing on quality and efficiency. Party development work and building a clean and strong Party organization continued to be top priorities.

Promote restructuring of agricultural production towards sustainability, increase added value. High-tech shrimp farming models, development of organic coconut raw material areas, and chain linkages will be replicated. Continue to remove difficulties for businesses, speed up the progress of wind power projects, promote investment in industrial parks and industrial clusters. The district is determined to complete budget revenue targets. Strengthen management of land, resources, environment and speed up the disbursement of public investment.

Continuing to improve the quality of communes meeting advanced NTM standards and model NTM standards. In addition, maintaining political security, social order and safety, preventing crime and corruption, and promptly resolving complaints and denunciations are also key tasks to ensure stable development.

With the foundation of the results achieved in the first 6 months of 2025, the close direction of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus of the people, the socio-economic situation in Thanh Phu district is converging all the conditions to make a breakthrough in the last months of 2025. At the same time, opening a new, more dynamic and sustainable development path in the future.

The district's new rural development program has made a remarkable mark, with 17/17 communes meeting the new rural standards; of which, 6 communes have achieved advanced new rural standards and 3 model new rural communes. The district has submitted a dossier to the Central Government for recognition of meeting the new rural district standards and is expected to announce it in June 2025. This is the result of the persistent efforts and consensus of the entire political system, people and business community.
