On the 31km long border strip bordering Laos, where the forests are deep and the mountains are steep, and transportation is difficult, the soldiers of the Nam Giang International Border Gate Border Guard Station still quietly stay.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Thuan - Deputy Political Commissar , Nam Giang International Border Guard Station said that the unit was assigned to manage and protect 11 national border markers and 4 markers in La Dee commune (Da Nang city). Here, the residents are mainly Co Tu and Gie Trieng (Ve, Ta Rieng).

The Nam Giang International Border Guard Station coordinates with the militia and police to prepare for the patrol, control, management and protection of the national border. Before the march, the unit commander will assign specific tasks to the patrol team.
Over the years, the unit has regularly coordinated with local authorities and forces to grasp the local situation, coordinate with functional forces to organize border patrols and border markers; promptly detect and handle situations and incidents that occur, and prevent the creation of hot spots.

In addition to food, medicine, and necessary supplies, each soldier participating in the mission must have a fully prepared backpack with military and personal items such as clothes, hammocks, bowls, chopsticks, water bottles, toothbrushes, toothpaste, insecticide, etc.

Each member is assigned a clear position, with special attention paid to keeping watch on all four sides throughout the journey through the forest, maintaining the initiative on the border line.
"Regardless of the weather, we are not discouraged and work together to firmly protect the national border's sovereignty and security," said Senior Lieutenant Alang Minh Thang.

Guns in hand, backpacks on shoulders, steadfast thoughts - they set out to protect every inch of sacred land of the Fatherland and the peaceful life of the people.

Each patrol lasts for many days. Crossing forests, wading streams, climbing slopes... are daily challenges for border guards here.

The patrol was carried out in hot weather and difficult terrain. Between high mountains and dry streams, each hand held each other up the slope - the camaraderie and comradeship was forged through each step in the remote border area.
During the patrol, the patrol team leader will be in a favorable position to observe and remind the team of formation.
Every trace on the patrol route is carefully observed and analyzed. From there, the team promptly makes appropriate judgments and actions, determined not to let criminals and bad guys take advantage of illegal border crossings.

The Nam Giang International Border Guard Station has also achieved many outstanding achievements in the fight against crime and maintaining social order and safety in the border area.
Typically, successfully participating in the fight against project A424.4p, arresting 8 Lao nationals, seizing 198kg of various drugs and 1 car.

Not only do they protect sovereignty markers, they are also "living markers" in the hearts of the people - a place where people in border areas place their trust and peace of mind.
In addition to patrolling duties, the Nam Giang International Border Guard Station also focuses on mass mobilization work, regularly coordinating with local authorities to propagate laws, support people in building new rural areas, and reduce poverty.

In particular, the relationship between the army and the people here is connected by simple but loving actions. From supporting plant and animal seeds, to mobilizing resources to build houses, clean water, electricity, etc., the border guards always accompany the people in every change.

For over 10 years, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thanh Vinh (in photo, right) has been promoted to the position of Deputy Secretary of the La Dee Commune Party Committee, to help develop the socio-economy in this difficult border area.
"Living with the people, worrying with the people", he persistently contributes to building new rural areas, supporting livelihoods, calling for investment and orienting sustainable development programs for the locality.

In the old forests, amidst the fog of Truong Son, there are soldiers who do not mind hardship. They are the bridge between the Party, the State and the people in the border areas. They are the ones who protect the border and also the ones who sow hope, helping to build the villages to become more and more prosperous.
