GTA 6 release date will be later than expected

According to VGC , according to analysts, based on Take-Two's latest profit guidance, the game Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) likely won't be released before April 2025.

On Thursday, February 8, Take-Two, the owner of developer Rockstar, revised down its profit guidance for the next fiscal year (FY25), which runs from April 2024 to March 2025.

GTA 6 won't be out until April 2025

Wedbush Securities analysts Nick McKay and Michael Pachter said that the game has likely slipped past its previously projected early 2025 release window. In a research note titled '$7 billion means no GTA in FY25', the analysts wrote: "We can only speculate that GTA 6 has slipped past FY25, in line with our previous expectations."

"Management said revenue for next year will be just over $7 billion, much lower than the initial figure in May of $8 billion and the first revised figure of nearly $8 billion in November. This decline makes it almost certain that GTA 6 will not be released in the next financial year," the two added.

However, analysts also said there is no reason to believe the game won't be released in 2025 and could launch by the end of the year.

Rockstar released the first official trailer for the game in December, racking up over 90 million views in just 24 hours. In addition to a 2025 release date for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the trailer also confirmed that the game will be set partly in Vice City (a fictional setting based on Miami) and will feature two main characters, including the first female character to appear in the series.

Take-Two also said GTA 5 has shipped more than 195 million copies since its release in 2013. The entire GTA franchise has sold more than 420 million copies since its launch in 1997.

Although this is not an official announcement from Rockstar, the information from analysts may make many GTA fans a bit disappointed when having to wait longer than expected.
