Seizing and destroying a large quantity of smuggled and counterfeit goods on the occasion of Lunar New Year

During the Lunar New Year 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Police coordinated with the City Market Management and relevant functional units to detect, seize and handle a large quantity of smuggled, counterfeit and fake goods in the area.

Accordingly, the Standing Office of Steering Committee 389 of Ho Chi Minh City - Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department has directed and closely monitored the destruction of foreign-made and smuggled cigarettes in the area by the Police units, the City Civil Judgment Enforcement Department, and the District Civil Judgment Enforcement Sub-Departments.

Before, during and after the Lunar New Year, the Standing Office of the City Steering Committee 389 supervised the destruction of 169,705 packs of foreign-made and smuggled cigarettes by functional forces in the city.

These goods are manufactured and smuggled abroad, including the following brands: 555, Jet, Hero, Esse Change, Esse Menthol, Esse Lights, Esse Change, Marlboro, Zouk, Raison Ice Cafe, Caraven Demi, Caraven Classic, Saigon Silver...

During the peak of the crackdown on all types of crimes, ensuring security and order during the 2025 Lunar New Year, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department also discovered a special case, destroying a large-scale "Production and trading of counterfeit medicines and disease prevention drugs" ring led by Ngo Kim Dieu and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong, prosecuting 22 subjects.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, the subjects used legal entities of companies in Binh Tan District and District 8 as fronts to conceal the production and trading of counterfeit oriental medicine combined with various modern medicines (in capsule form).

The subjects organized everything from capsule production, blister packaging to packaging and storing raw materials and finished products at different locations in Ho Chi Minh City to avoid detection and handling by authorities.

During the Lunar New Year, the Ho Chi Minh City Interdisciplinary Inspection Team also inspected Co.op Mart Tuy Ly Vuong Supermarket; Co.op Mart Pham The Hien Supermarket; Nhi Thien Duong Market; Xom Cui Market; Rach Ong Market; Pham The Hien Market, Phu Loi 1 Market and Phu Tho Tourism Service Joint Stock Company and many other businesses, convenience stores, traditional markets...

At the Viet Uc Environment Joint Stock Company Factory, located in Le Minh Xuan Industrial Park (Binh Chanh District), on January 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department coordinated with the City's Food Safety Department and the Economic and Position Crime Investigation Police Team - District 12 Police to destroy goods amounting to 18,168 bottles of 250 ml Heineken beer, made in France, with a total value of hundreds of millions of VND.
