Signing of training cooperation agreement

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon highly appreciated Vietjet's modern Aviation Academy, which meets European standards. He was impressed with the modern training and research facilities with simulated cockpits (SIM) for pilot training, aircraft simulators and passenger cabins.

Vietjet Aviation Academy is also equipped with aircraft engines, technical equipment, functional training rooms, Olympic-standard wave pools, stadiums, engineer training centers, etc. to meet the needs of comprehensive and high-quality aviation personnel training in the world .

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's official visit comes at a time when Vietnam and New Zealand officially upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership and are preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet, welcomed the New Zealand Prime Minister to Vietjet with warm sincerity, pledging to cooperate in economics, diplomacy, culture, science and technology on this occasion.

"The target of bilateral trade turnover of 3 billion USD will be realized on the basis of the solid foundation we have achieved in cooperation agreements between the two countries. Vietjet and businesses of the two countries will expand cooperation, develop sustainably and go further together," said the female billionaire.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon also witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement on training, development and research between Vietjet Aviation Academy and the International Aviation Academy of New Zealand (IAANZ). The agreement includes training high-quality pilots specifically for the aviation industry in Vietnam in particular and the region in general.

Speaking at the event, the New Zealand Prime Minister said: "I appreciate that Vietjet has become a very successful airline in recent times and played an important role in promoting growth cooperation between the two countries, as we have great ambitions in the fields of tourism, education, culture and want to strengthen stronger people-to-people connections, promote trade and investment... Today's cooperation between Vietjet in particular and with the companies in the group in general has brought many practical meanings."

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and the New Zealand senior leadership delegation also took time to visit the modern facilities, meeting world-class standards at Vietjet Aviation Academy.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao piloted the plane to land at the New Zealand airport in the modern simulator (SIM) at VJAA. Interestingly, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon was also the CEO of New Zealand's national airline.

New flight route announcement

Vietjet has also proposed the Vietjet Hub investment project in New Zealand - a multi-functional center connecting New Zealand tourism and investment destinations from Vietnam and the world through Vietjet's global flight network, and at the same time, a meeting place for educational exchange, cultural sharing, business connection, and tourism promotion between the two countries. This is a plan to realize the agreements just signed between the two governments.

Previously on February 26, witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Vietjet announced a new route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Auckland, expected to operate from September 2025 with a frequency of 4 flights/week.
