Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrives in Vientiane, beginning visit to Laos

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of January 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane Capital, to begin a visit to Laos and co-chair the 47th meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee, from January 9 to 10 at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Sonexay Siphandone.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at Wattay International Airport, on the Lao and ASEAN sides were Minister and Head of the Lao Prime Minister's Office Buakhong Nammavong; Lao Deputy Foreign Minister Phonsavan Sisoulath; leaders of Vientiane Capital, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh, and officials of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, Vietnamese representative agencies, officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Laos.

During the working trip, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone are expected to co-chair the 47th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee and co-chair the Laos-Vietnam Investment Cooperation Conference.

The visit aims to implement the results achieved at the meeting of the two Politburoes in September 2024; coordinate good preparations for the meeting between the heads of the three ruling parties of Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam in 2025 and major events in the relations between the two countries and of each country - Photo: VGP/Nhat Bac

Along with that, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had talks and meetings with the highest-ranking leaders of Laos; met with former high-ranking leaders of Laos; worked with leaders of several Lao agencies and attended joint Vietnam-Laos events.

The visit aims to implement the results achieved at the meeting of the two Politburoes in September 2024; coordinate good preparations for the meeting between the heads of the three ruling parties of Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam in 2025 and major events in the relations between the two countries and of each country.

The two sides will exchange measures to strengthen foreign political cooperation; promote security and defense cooperation; promote economic , trade, investment, education and cultural cooperation; especially promote economic ties between the two economies through transport and business connections, and effectively implement key cooperation projects between the two countries.
