Ha Tinh Library "attracts" readers in the summer

Since mid-May, Ha Tinh Library has served an average of 500 readers per day, double the number of readers over the same period last year.

According to the report of Ha Tinh Library, from the beginning of 2023 to now, 1,081 library cards have been issued to 1,081 readers, an increase of 100% compared to the same period in 2022. The unit has also served 60,278 readers using the library, over 241,000 book circulations (borrowings). Of which, from mid-May to now, the library has served an average of about 500 readers per day, double the same period last year. The high demand has forced the Provincial Library to add more tables and chairs to serve readers.

Le Phuc Tuan, a 12A1 student at Ly Tu Trong High School (Thach Ha), said: “Normally, my friends and I only go to the library 1-2 times a week, but during the peak period of high school graduation exam preparation, we spend about 4 times at the library. Coming here, besides the quiet and cool space, we can also look up information and supplement our knowledge from the library's diverse books, serving our review conveniently and easily.”

Many 12th grade students choose the Provincial Library as a place to review and look up materials for the upcoming high school graduation exam.

Not only senior students, readers coming to the Provincial Library on this occasion also include students of all levels, university students, teachers...

Ms. Cao Thi Phuong Tra (Tan Giang Ward, Ha Tinh City) said: “As a teacher, summer is a great time for me to read books and supplement my knowledge. In addition, to help my child stay away from video games or being glued to the TV all day..., I made a library card to help my child get acquainted and encourage him to love reading culture.”

Ms. Cao Thi Phuong Tra chooses the Provincial Library as a regular destination during the summer so that she and her children can enjoy reading.

Similar to Ms. Phuong Tra's opinion, among the many reading cards registered at the Provincial Library recently, there are many parents, with the purpose of helping their children have a healthy and useful entertainment space.

Mr. Ton Duc Quang (Van Yen ward, Ha Tinh city) shared: As an officer at a state agency, I don't have much time to keep up with my child, but witnessing my 10-year-old son's passion for reading, I made a reading card. At the beginning of every working day, I take my child to the library so he can immerse himself in the world of knowledge, and at the end of the working day, I pick him up.

Student Ton Gia Khanh (grade 5B, Van Yen Primary School, Ha Tinh City) is a regular reader of the Provincial Library this summer.

The reason for the increasing attraction of readers to the love of reading is that in recent times, the Provincial Library has continuously innovated in the form of propaganda and promotion of reading culture. From the beginning of 2023 up to now, the unit has carried out 22 propaganda and promotion sessions introducing books in many different forms in 13/13 districts, cities and towns across the province. In addition, the unit also introduced dozens of books on the library's website.

In addition, the library regularly updates and supplements information resources through books and documents to meet readers' tastes. Since the beginning of 2023, the Provincial Library has purchased and added tens of thousands of new books and documents, including 2,500 online books. In order to serve readers using the library directly, the unit has also renovated the reading room, lending room, installed an air-conditioning system, creating a convenient reading space.

In addition to serving readers using the library directly, the Provincial Library has digitized thousands of e-books to serve readers for free online on the library's website.

Mr. Mai Quoc Quyen - Director of Ha Tinh Library said: "Currently, the library has more than 300,000 books with diverse topics and genres; over 300 types of newspapers and magazines to serve readers. In particular, there is a rich source of documents with more than 4,000 documents of Ha Tinh local geography, which is useful for the study and research of students, postgraduates...

In the coming time, we will make more efforts to serve readers, including actively implementing the policy of digital library transformation to develop and spread reading culture more strongly to all classes of people."
