Promoting literary and artistic cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation

On May 2, 2024, at the headquarters of the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi received Mr. Igor Khalevinsky, Chairman of the Association of Russian Diplomats and writer and poet Svetlana Savitskaya, founder of the National Literature Award "Golden Pen of Russia".

Attending the meeting were representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs , departments and offices of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Director of the "Tradition and Friendship" Fund.

At the meeting, Ms. Savitskaya shared her special feelings for Vietnam. She recalled her memories of 1979 when she was an 8th grader, writing a poem titled “Letter to Friends,” sympathizing and sharing the difficulties and hardships that Vietnamese children had experienced during the resistance war against the US to save the country.

On a special occasion 40 years later, she attended the International Poetry Festival in Hanoi at the invitation of the Vietnam Writers Association and contributed poems about Vietnam in Vietnamese and French.

Ms. Savitskaya hopes that her work about her memories after her visit to Vietnam will be translated and published into Vietnamese, and expressed her willingness to participate in joint cooperation projects in the field of literature and art between the two countries and suggested that writers and poets of the two countries actively participate in literature and art festivals held in each country.

Mr. Igor Khalevinsky affirmed Russia's support for joint cooperation projects between the two countries, contributing to increasing contact and understanding between the two peoples about each country's culture and art.

For his part, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi thanked Ms. Savitskaya for her contributions, through her literary works, which brought the image of Vietnam closer to the Russian public.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnamese people always love the literature and art of the Soviet Union and present-day Russia.

The Ambassador emphasized that the two countries have a tradition of cooperation in the field of literature and arts and it needs to be further promoted, especially the implementation of joint cooperation projects between the two countries, on the basis of the attention and support of state management agencies, the activeness and proactiveness of literary and artistic associations and the mobilization of social resources from businesses and organizations of the two countries such as the "Tradition and Friendship" Fund.

Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi expressed his wish that Ms. Svetlana Savitskaya would personally give talks, share her feelings, experiences and works about Vietnam to inspire and love for Vietnam for Russian students who are learning Vietnamese and researching about Vietnam.

At the meeting, Ms. Svetlana Savitskaya presented the Embassy with two of her works, “If on the road... Rain...” and the fantasy novel “In the name of God”, translated into Vietnamese by poet, literary critic, and translator Mai Van Phan.

Ms. Savitskaya is an academician, doctor of philosophy, writer, journalist, painter, performer, storyteller on television and radio...

She is the author of 21 books, more than 1,000 articles and cultural studies. Writer Svetlana Savitskaya is the founder of the “Golden Pen of Russia” Literary Award since 2005.
