E-commerce - Leverage for digital economic breakthrough - Final episode: Aspiration for breakthrough

The Resolution of the 1st Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, sets the target of the proportion of added value of the digital economy in GRDP by 2030 reaching 35%, in which e-commerce is one of the important spearheads. This is a big goal with many challenges, but completely feasible if there is close cooperation between the State and the business community.

Driving force for digital economic development

To concretize the goals of the Provincial Party Congress Resolution for the 2025 - 2030 term, the Department of Industry and Trade has developed targets for trade and service development by 2030. Accordingly, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is expected to reach nearly 438,000 billion VND, with an average growth rate of about 17.5% per year in the 2026 - 2030 period. In the e-commerce sector alone, revenue is expected to continue to maintain a double-digit growth rate, with online transactions accounting for more than 10% of total retail sales.

At the same time, the province focuses on investing and attracting investment in key trade and service infrastructure systems, such as: Ca Na Logistics Center, Ninh Chu, Nam Cam Ranh or Dam Mon Trade and Finance Center. This will be the "backbone" foundation to help smooth the circulation of goods, effectively connect regions and create a strong driving force for digital economic development.

In the period of 2026 - 2030, the Department of Industry and Trade prioritizes the following solutions: Promoting the dissemination of successful e-commerce models; advising on policies to support businesses in applying digital technology; developing modern telecommunications and logistics infrastructure; training online business skills; connecting small and medium enterprises with large domestic and international e-commerce platforms; building a transparent and safe e-commerce ecosystem. Mr. Tran Quoc Sanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade shared: "If trade and services are considered the "vehicle" to promote growth, e-commerce is the "new engine" to help the province move quickly and sustainably on the path of digital economic development".

Opportunities and prospects

The breakthrough of e-commerce brings many opportunities. If the growth rate reaches 20%/year, the province can create tens of thousands of jobs in the fields of logistics, information technology, digital marketing. Agricultural products, processed seafood, handicrafts... will expand online exports, directly reaching international consumers.

From the perspective of connecting local strengths, Mr. Vo Van Khanh - Chief Representative of the Vietnam E-commerce Association in the Central Highlands region, said that e-commerce can become a bridge to increase the value of tourism , marine services and typical products. "Businesses can completely pre-sell tour packages, online experience services, or exploit tourists after the trip through online channels. With specialties such as bird's nest, grapes, apples, seafood or other OCOP products, e-commerce helps standardize, promote and distribute internationally. This combination creates a closed ecosystem, so that each tourist becomes a long-term customer of Khanh Hoa," said Mr. Khanh.

Not only from the expert perspective, many businesses see the prospect of e-commerce in the future. Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan - Director of Linh Dan Ninh Thuan Co., Ltd. (Phan Rang ward) shared: "Every day, the company supplies about 4 tons of green asparagus, of which nearly 3 tons are exported to Japan, Korea, Taiwan (China), Dubai (United Arab Emirates - UAE)... If we make good use of e-commerce, we can open more channels to access international customers, reducing intermediary costs". Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong - Head of Administration and Human Resources Department of Vinh Phuoc Export Handicraft Cooperative (Ninh Hoa ward) said: "The cooperative's products have been certified to comply with the European BSCI standards. Currently, the cooperative has more than 200 samples exported to countries: UK, France, USA, Japan, Korea, Sweden, Australia... Exploiting more e-commerce channels will help promote the brand and increase the value of local specialty products".

The picture of e-commerce by 2030 is a combination of technology, people and policies. E-commerce will not only be a sales channel, but also become a key driving force to turn Khanh Hoa into a service - tourism - digital technology center of the South Central Coast region. The companionship of the State and enterprises is the key for e-commerce to take off, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
