The American "Super Tiger" chose the Genesis Invitational 2024 to open the scheduled monthly tournament schedule on the PGA Tour and wore a new outfit after ending 27 years with Nike.
Woods will begin competing in the Genesis Invitational at Riviera in Los Angeles on February 15. He calls this a new chapter in his career, at the age of 48 and weakened, especially in his legs, after a traffic accident in February 2021.
From this tournament, Woods will no longer wear Nike gear to compete because the two sides announced the end of their cooperation last month. It was a "blockbuster" contract, lasting 27 years with a total remuneration for Woods estimated at 500 million USD.
Woods wore Sun Day Red (SDR) gear yesterday as he tested his skills at Riviera, a product Woods had introduced the day before in collaboration with his club sponsor and partner TaylorMade.
Its logo features a tiger-like figure evoking his name, while the name is inspired by the red color that has been associated with Woods during his final round, usually on Sundays, on the PGA Tour for the past 27 years. The American golf superstar once said that his mother, Kultida, who is of Thai descent, said red was his power color.

"I used to wear red on the last day of an event or an important tournament for my school. It just so happened that my school had the same color scheme. It worked. And when I turned pro, I won a few trophies in red, so that tradition will never change," Woods revealed in 2013.
From 2024, the top men's golf tournament in the US will return to a full-year schedule, with the schedule stretching from January to mid-August. After the Genesis Invitational, Woods will likely play four more majors and two regular tournaments. After those seven tournaments, his schedule will depend on his position in the FedEx Cup standings.
The owner of 15 majors this week temporarily competes with veteran caddie Lance Bennett, after parting ways with trusted on-field assistant Joe LaCava.
