Scottie Scheffler recreates Tiger Woods' miracle after chip-in of a lifetime

Scottie Scheffler continued to affirm his No. 1 position in golf when he won the 2025 BMW Championship at Caves Valley (Maryland) - the second event in the FedEx Cup playoffs.

The American golfer finished four rounds with a total score of -15, surpassing Robert MacIntyre by two strokes to win his 18th PGA Tour title in his career, and his fifth victory of the season this year.

The most memorable moment came on the 17th hole of the final round, when Scheffler chipped in from about 25 meters, sending the ball rolling into the hole for birdie.

This "out of the blue" shot not only helped him take the lead but also changed the situation of the already tense race.

On the opposite side, Robert MacIntyre – who led the first three rounds with 62, 64 and 68 strokes – collapsed in the final round with a 73 stroke.

That loss of breath forced the Scottish golfer to accept second place with a total score of -13. Maverick McNealy finished third with a score of -11.

The win earned Scheffler $3.6 million of the $20 million prize pool. MacIntyre received $2.16 million, while McNealy pocketed $1.36 million.

On the FedEx Cup side, Scheffler maintained his No. 1 position and headed into the Tour Championship as a top contender.

Notably, this year's format has changed significantly: the 30 golfers participating in the final event will start at even par, no longer having the "handicap" advantage like previous seasons.

The tournament also recorded sideline stories. Sepp Straka had to withdraw in the second round due to personal reasons, reducing the list of golfers to 49 instead of 50.

On the other hand, Akshay Bhatia won the final ticket to the Tour Championship after beating Rickie Fowler and Michael Kim in a close competition.

The 2025 BMW Championship ended with Scheffler's miraculous chip. He became the second person to have 5 or more wins in 2 consecutive PGA Tour seasons, after Tiger Woods .

Legend Tiger Woods had a winning streak of at least 5 consecutive tournaments from 1999-2023; 2005-2007.

With this form, it is difficult for anyone to stop Scheffler from aiming for another FedEx Cup title.
