Found 6 people lost on Minh Dam mountain

On August 4, Phuoc Hai Border Guard Station, Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard (BĐBP) said that the unit coordinated with Phuoc Hai Commune Police, Long Dien Dat Do Forest Ranger Department and Minh Dam Historical Site Management Board to promptly bring 6 people who got lost to the foot of Minh Dam mountain safely.

Before that, at around 12:30 on August 3, a group of 6 young people organized a tour to Minh Dam Mountain (in Phuoc Hai Commune, Ho Chi Minh City). However, at 2:00 p.m. the same day, the group lost their way in the dense forest. Due to weak phone signal, communication was difficult.

One of the group tried to contact and report to the Phuoc Hai Commune Police for timely support and rescue.

At around 4:30 p.m. on August 3, Phuoc Hai Commune Police received a report that a group of 6 people from Ho Chi Minh City had organized a trip without notifying the local authorities; the group lacked GPS equipment and were unfamiliar with the mountainous terrain, so they got lost while visiting Minh Dam Mountain.

Immediately upon receiving the news, Phuoc Hai Commune Police coordinated with Phuoc Hai Border Guard Station, Long Dien Dat Do Forest Ranger Department, Minh Dam Historical Site Management Board and Artillery Company 38 to quickly establish a working group to organize and deploy search and rescue plans, and arrange forces to split into many groups to search in dark weather conditions, dense trees, steep and dangerous roads.

After 2 hours of moving and searching in this area, at 6:30 p.m. the same day (August 3), the authorities reached the scene where 6 people were lost, about 4.5 km from the foot of the mountain and proceeded to bring this group down the mountain and move home safely.

Through the above incident, the authorities recommend that people, especially young people, proactively notify local authorities when organizing exploration and picnic activities in mountainous areas.

This not only helps ensure personal safety but also facilitates support and rescue work in emergency situations.
