The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family deeply regret to inform that Comrade Tran Phuong - former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Deputy Prime Minister) - passed away at 6:02 a.m. on October 18, 2025 (ie August 27, At Ty year) at the 108 Central Military Hospital, at the age of 98.
Comrade Tran Phuong (birth name: Vu Van Dung), born on November 1, 1927; hometown: Xuan Duc Commune, My Hao District, Hung Yen Province (now Duong Hao Ward, Hung Yen Province); permanent residence at No. 28, Tang Bat Ho Street, Hai Ba Trung Ward, Hanoi City; participated in revolutionary activities in September 1943; joined the Party in September 1945.
Comrade Tran Phuong was an alternate member of the 4th Party Central Committee; member of the 5th Party Central Committee; Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Deputy Prime Minister); Minister of Domestic Trade (now Ministry of Industry and Trade ); Vice Chairman of the State Planning Commission; delegate of the 7th National Assembly.
During 80 years of revolutionary activities, comrade Tran Phuong had many achievements contributing to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, and was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and State; the 80-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and orders.
To express condolences and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of comrade Tran Phuong, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold the funeral of comrade Tran Phuong with the State funeral ceremony.
The Party Central Committee Secretariat has decided to establish a State Funeral Committee consisting of 27 comrades, headed by Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh.
Comrade Tran Phuong's coffin will lie at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on October 24, 2025 (ie September 4, At Ty year). The memorial service will be from 12:00 p.m. on October 24, 2025. The burial will be from 1:00 p.m. on the same day at his hometown cemetery, Xuan Duc commune, My Hao district, Hung Yen province (now Duong Hao ward, Hung Yen province).
