On the afternoon of October 21, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held a press conference to announce the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 with the theme Heritage - Connection - Era, a large-scale cultural and artistic event aiming to become an annual activity of the Capital.

Under the direction of the City People's Committee, the festival is chaired by the Department of Culture and Sports, in coordination with departments, branches, localities and international partners, to honor the heritage of Thang Long - Hanoi , spread the spirit of Heritage - Connection - Time, and affirm Hanoi's position in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
Activities are spread across many heritage and creative spaces of the capital such as Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoan Kiem Lake area, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi Museum. At the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, visitors will experience the Heritage Convergence series displaying traditional craft products of the three capitals (Thang Long - Hue - Hoa Lu) and the Central Highlands provinces from November 1 to 9, along with the Hanoi Flavors culinary space and creative arts and crafts activities at Van Lake lasting until November 16.

Consecutively in the first days of November are cultural appointments: Ao Dai fashion show on the heritage road (November 2), Hanoi Thanh Tan painting exhibition (November 2-16), Hanoi Oh art program (November 3), Heritage and Future exhibition (November 3-16), international scientific seminar on East-West cultural and educational heritage (November 3) and the Red Waves calling the great forest program (November 8).
Hanoi Museum brings thematic exhibition Archaeological discoveries from the Banana Garden relic (November 2) and the Puppet Show space, where folk puppetry is renewed through performance and interaction. International highlight Eternal Moment (November 8) brings together Swiss composer Dominique Barthassat and the creative community of Hanoi.
Throughout 16 days, the festival brings together more than 30 cultural, artistic and tourism activities with many outstanding programs: Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2025 takes place on November 7-9 at Hanoi Museum and Hoan Kiem Lake area; Hanoi Puppetry Festival (November 15) with a discussion on Preserving and promoting puppetry heritage in contemporary life (November 10); Thang Long Capital performance at Thang Long Imperial Citadel (November 10) and Ngoc Son Mysterious Night program at Ngoc Son Temple (November 8 and 16).

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival is held for the fourth time, continuing to honor the Ao Dai heritage and promote the image of Hanoi as a cultural and creative destination.
The event is expected to gather nearly 50 domestic designers and craft villages such as Trach Xa (Ung Hoa), Van Phuc silk and many handicraft establishments; the Ao Dai design competition for specialized students was launched at the beginning of the year and excellent collections will be displayed within the framework of the festival.
The Festival also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Tug of War rituals and games being recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, with an international conference on A Decade of Protection and Promotion of Tug of War Rituals and Games (November 15) and a tug of war performance exchange with the participation of international delegations (November 16 at Tran Vu Temple, Long Bien Ward), along with commemorative activities at the craft guild space.
With more than 6,000 historical and cultural relics, hundreds of craft villages and a vibrant network of creative spaces, Hanoi hopes that through the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025, it will strongly affirm the image of "Creative City - where heritage lives with the times", while promoting the Vietnamese cultural brand to international friends.
