Persistent on the mission of "Keeping the heritage alive, creating national energy"

Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Members of Petrovietnam Group Le Manh Hung emphasized that over the past 50 years, under the leadership of the Party and State, Petrovietnam has achieved many great achievements, which are the driving force, spreading and making important contributions to building and defending the Fatherland.

Petrovietnam has successfully fulfilled its mission of making an important contribution to ensuring 5 security: Energy security, economic security, national defense security, food security and social security. In particular, in the volatile period of 2020-2025 with "double crises" and internal "wounds", Petrovietnam has steadfastly overcome challenges, recovered, developed with a very high growth rate, achieved many new records in production and business; effectively put into operation many large projects and works, such as: Song Hau 1 Thermal Power Plant, Thai Binh 2, LNG Thi Vai, Lot B Gas Power Chain...

Petrovietnam has also been successful in restructuring and shifting to a sustainable business model, increasing the proportion of technology, deep processing, high value and export, and effectively responding to fluctuations in the business environment.

Up to now, Petrovietnam can be proud of its great achievements, in which 5 indicators are the highest: Largest scale; highest budget contribution; continuously achieving the highest profit; enterprise with the most Ho Chi Minh and State awards in science and technology; performing social responsibility, highest contribution to social security.

Developing further on the traditional oil and gas foundation, Petrovietnam has made a strategic shift, becoming a national Industry - Energy Group, opening a new era of development, combining 5 main fields of operation into 3 pillars: Energy is the core, industry is the foundation, technical services are the spearhead.

Mr. Le Manh Hung affirmed that, entering a new era, along with the development of the country, Petrovietnam is determined to implement the strategic goals identified in the Resolution of the 4th Petrovietnam Party Congress, striving to be one of the 500 largest enterprises in the world by 2030, developing strongly and sustainably;

Petrovietnam is determined to innovate and modernize the management system in line with the group's model; focus on developing science, technology, innovation, especially 10 strategic technologies, 32 key products, with the target of 25% revenue from science and technology; talent management, preparing high-quality human resources for the future; developing national ecological energy industry centers; strengthening international cooperation, investment, export and business, striving for 30% international revenue; enhancing corporate culture in line with the new mission and vision through the development of Petrovietnam's people and knowledge.

In recognition of Petrovietnam's important contributions to the country, at the ceremony, the Party and State awarded the First Class Labor Medal to Petrovietnam Group; First Class Labor Medal to Party Secretary and Chairman of the Group's Board of Members Le Manh Hung; Second Class Labor Medal to Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son and Petrovietnam Deputy General Director Le Manh Cuong; Third Class Labor Medal to individuals: Permanent Deputy Secretary of Petrovietnam Party Committee Tran Quang Dung, Petrovietnam Deputy General Director Le Xuan Huyen and Head of Petrovietnam Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Department Vu Dao Minh.

Also at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam National Energy Industry Group launched the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam program, built STEM meeting rooms applying digital technology, gradually upgraded the educational infrastructure system, and connected schools, localities, and internationally.

The total cost of implementing the program is about 500 billion VND, which Petrovietnam takes from the group's annual social security budget. From now until the end of 2025, the program will deploy 3 typical STEM classrooms in each province, connecting with each other and connecting between localities, connecting with Singapore's educational and training facilities.

Ensuring transparent, accountable, efficient and sustainable resources

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam warmly commended and congratulated the great achievements of the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group over the past 50 years; highly appreciated the achievements of "5 safe" and "5 best", including many fundamental and basic contributions of the group in terms of social security.

Regarding the transition from the traditional Oil and Gas Group to the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group, the General Secretary affirmed that this is a fundamental preparation step to move to a new stage. In the near future, the Politburo will discuss and issue a Resolution on state economic development. Accordingly, one of the main tasks and solutions is to focus on investing in the development of a number of large-scale state economic groups, playing a leading role in key sectors, fields, and strategic areas of the economy.

From this perspective, the Party and the State have high expectations for Petrovietnam. Therefore, General Secretary To Lam suggested that, in the group's new development strategy, Petrovietnam needs to focus on firmly ensuring national energy security; leading industrialization, modernization, and developing industry and services to become pillars; pioneering in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; devoting sufficient resources to research and development activities, creating the latest products and services in key areas, accelerating the application of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and big data.

The Group also needs to innovate governance and perfect its corporate governance model according to international practices to improve efficiency, safety, strengthen discipline, prevent loss and waste, and ensure resources with the principles of transparency, integrity, efficiency and sustainability.

The General Secretary requested that the group proactively integrate internationally and promote the strength of economic sectors to develop together; focus on strategic cooperation with strategic partners in the world, deeply participate in the international industrial energy value chain, and make the Petrovietnam brand become the industrial economic ambassador of Vietnam. At the same time, the group links the domestic economic sector chain, encourages the public-private partnership model (PPP) in implementing investment projects, creating conditions for private enterprises to deeply participate in mechanical engineering services, manufacturing, and supporting industries according to the principles of mutual development, mutual benefit, and national interests; complete the goal by 2030, Petrovietnam becomes one of the 500 largest enterprises in the world.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam gave Petrovietnam 8 words: "Pioneering, outstanding, sustainable, global".

“Pioneering is to lead the cause of industrialization, modernization and energy transition, digital and green transformation, enhance integration and affirm Vietnam's intellectual capacity. Outstanding in efficiency, competitiveness and innovation, becoming a typical model of state-owned enterprises. Sustainable in vision and action of harmonious development between economic growth, environmental protection, social security and national responsibility. Global in aspiration and strength to reach out to the sea, positioning Vietnam in the international arena, confident in the ranks of the world's leading enterprises”, the General Secretary emphasized.

On this occasion, the General Secretary requested that the Party Committee of the National Assembly direct the National Assembly to perfect the legal system, create a legal corridor for the competitive energy market and promote the efficiency of state-owned enterprises. The Party Committee of the Government directed the Government to concretize the Politburo's policies in the Charter of Petrovietnam's operations; continue to strongly implement decentralization and decentralization, build specific mechanisms for strategic energy projects, with assignment and orientation towards the development of economic sectors.

In addition, General Secretary To Lam requested that ministries, branches and localities coordinate to provide guidance, create an open business environment, remove bottlenecks and bottlenecks to serve the development and implementation of infrastructure space planning, and at the same time create a national ecological energy industrial center.

Within the framework of the celebration, Petrovietnam opened the Science and Technology Exhibition, displaying outstanding scientific and technological achievements over 50 years.

The exhibits displayed and introduced at the exhibition represent achievements and contributions in science and technology, affirming the core competencies of Petrovietnam in the process of national development; demonstrating the stature, scale and fields of operation.

The exhibition takes place on September 21 and 22; free admission from 8am to 9pm on September 22.
