When the car carrying General Secretary To Lam and his wife entered the Presidential Palace, President Alexander Stubb and his wife welcomed them at the parking lot, then invited General Secretary To Lam and his wife to the place of honor.

The military band played the Vietnamese and Finnish national anthems. Both sides introduced their delegates at the welcoming ceremony.

Next, the President of Finland and his wife invited General Secretary To Lam and his wife to move to the guest book room.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy and excitement to visit the beautiful, creative, cultural and humane country of Finland; and thanked the President, First Lady and people of Finland for their warm, friendly and sympathetic welcome.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that Vietnam highly appreciates the role and good relationship with Finland; believes that this visit to Finland will make positive contributions, opening a new page in the relationship between the two countries, contributing to peace , stability and development in the region and the world.

At the end of the welcoming ceremony, the President of Finland and General Secretary To Lam led high-ranking delegations from the two countries for talks.

This is the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese leader to Finland, demonstrating Vietnam's deep respect for the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Finland.

The visit took place at a time when the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1973-2023), marking a milestone in sustainable cooperation and opening a new phase of cooperation towards the next 50 years.

The visit is a new development in bilateral relations, creating momentum for shaping strategic cooperation in future fields. The two sides are expected to have in-depth discussions on cooperation orientations in the fields of economics, trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, education and training, environment and clean energy - areas in which Finland has strengths and Vietnam is prioritizing development.

Finland established diplomatic relations with Vietnam on January 25, 1973. The Finnish Embassy in Hanoi was opened in 1974 and Vietnam opened its Embassy in Helsinki in late 2005. The traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries have been maintained and developed well.
