After Toyota Motor North America introduced the 2026 Camry with major changes to the hybrid powertrain and some new paint colors, the digital car design community quickly came up with bolder ideas for the future of this car line. Digital designer Avante, from the UK, recently released a design sketch of the “GR Camry”, with the intention of turning this popular D-segment sedan into a high-performance model.
In this fictional version, the Camry is no longer attached to the hybrid system like the commercial version, but is "equipped" with an internal V8 engine, aiming to compete with high-end rivals such as the Mercedes-AMG E53 and BMW M5. The design impresses with Satin Burgundy paint, dark alloy wheels, a wider body thanks to the aerodynamic kit, and a central exhaust detail reminiscent of the GR Corolla.
Previously, Avante had designed a Toyota Camry in a sporty dark green style with many exposed carbon details, streamlined LED lights and a racing-like style. In fact, the 2026 Camry retains its position as a midsize sedan for the masses, with steady sales and a shift in focus to hybrid powertrains and RWD and AWD options. Still, the emergence of digital renderings shows the Camry's enduring appeal, and opens up interesting scenarios about whether the best-selling sedan could one day enter the performance segment.
The Toyota Camry has long been known as the best-selling D-segment sedan in the US and with this digital rendering, if it goes into production - it will definitely attract customers. Video : Experience the new Toyota Camry 2025 in Vietnam.
