Thu Duc City announces early enrollment plan for grade 6 of 3 "hot" schools

(NLDO) - Thu Duc City is the earliest locality in Ho Chi Minh City to announce a survey plan for 6th grade admission at the 3 "hottest" schools in the city.

Thu Duc City Department of Education and Training has just officially issued a document on enrollment in grade 6 at the 3 "hottest" schools in Thu Duc City.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, in order to continue to build and develop schools that implement high-quality, advanced, regionally and internationally integrated educational content in Thu Duc City. At the same time, implement the strategic plan for education and training development, meeting the goals and tasks of socio-economic development in the area. The Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City plans to continue organizing entrance exams for grade 6 for students who want to study at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, and Binh Tho Secondary School in the 2025-2026 school year.

Specifically: Conducting entrance examinations for 6th grade students at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School and Binh Tho Secondary School by reviewing the application documents and conducting a survey to assess each student's ability. Each school will be a survey point (depending on the number of registered students).

Thu Duc City students take the 6th grade entrance exam in 2024

The schools will be surveyed on the same day, jointly by the Department of Education and Training. The surveys of the 3 schools will be centralized to the survey marking board.

Registering for the survey: Students taking the survey at which school will be contacted to submit their application (can only register and submit their application at 1 school).

Competency test content: All candidates take a 90-minute competency test, consisting of 2 parts:

Multiple choice section: Includes 20 multiple choice questions in English about understanding natural sciences , social sciences and common sense.

The essay section includes: English proficiency test: Reading comprehension and writing in English. Math and logical thinking test in Vietnamese. Reading comprehension and writing test in Vietnamese.

The expected organization targets at schools are as follows:

Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School: Recruiting 9 6th grade classes (including at least 5 Integrated English classes, the rest are Intensive English classes) with 315 students.

Hoa Lu Secondary School: Recruiting 7 6th grade classes (including at least 3 Integrated English classes, the rest are intensive English classes) with 245 students.

Binh Tho Secondary School: Recruiting 8 6th grade classes (of which at least 3 are integrated English classes, the rest are intensive English classes) with 280 students.

Admission objects and conditions: All students who have completed primary school and wish to enter grade 6 in Thu Duc City, with an average end-of-year score in math and Vietnamese of 9.0 or higher.

Each student can only register for the entrance exam at one school (no other wishes), the exam results of that school will not be used for admission to the other two schools.

The survey is expected to take place in mid-June 2025. Admission requirements: Students who pass the 6th grade entrance exam are those who have completed the full 6th grade entrance exam, in accordance with regulations, and have no exam scores of 0. Admission score: The total score of the 6th grade entrance exam. Based on the results of the exam, the students will be ranked from highest to lowest until they meet the quota and according to the criteria appropriate to each school's model.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, the early announcement of information is to help parents and students prepare carefully. In addition, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City also requested that Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School and Binh Tho Secondary School have information, images and introductions about the school through the media so that parents can find out when needed.

Last school year, Thu Duc City surveyed and selected 980 students entering grade 6 at the 3 above schools out of a total of 2,837 students who registered for the survey.
