Historical and cultural destination
The Nuoc Oa base in Tra Tan commune (Bac Tra My) is a safe zone of Zone V, an important strategic location of the Zone Party Committee and the Military Region V Command during the resistance war against the US. In order to preserve and promote the historical values of the Nuoc Oa relic site, on April 29, 2011, the Prime Minister approved the Master Plan for the Central Central Vietnam - Nuoc Oa Revolutionary Historical Relic Site on a total area of 700 hectares. Currently, in the Central Central Vietnam - Nuoc Oa historical relic site complex, there are 11 relic sites, memorial areas, and memorial steles that have been and are being restored and newly built.
Of the 11 relic sites, 3 are recognized as national relic sites, including: Nuoc Oa Historical - Cultural Base, Monument of the Inspection Board of the Zone V Party Committee, Monument of the Organizing Board of the Zone V Party Committee. The relic sites, memorial sites, stele houses, and memorials have been invested in by the province and restored and newly built by Bac Tra My district to preserve and educate the younger generation about the tradition of fighting against foreign invaders of the army and people of Zone V, promoting historical and cultural values while serving sightseeing and tourism activities.
Coming to the highlands of Bac Tra My, tourists can experience many festivals such as eating buffalo flowers, gong fighting, Ca Zim Tet… This is also one of the beauties of the Co people in the highlands of Bac Tra My after the annual rice harvest season. Particularly, Ca Zim Tet is a long-standing custom of the Co people, praying for favorable weather and wishing for a peaceful new crop season that has been passed down and preserved.
In Cao Son village, Tra Son commune, visitors will be immersed in the vibrant sound of drums, gongs and dances of the Ca Dong people here.
From activities in production and daily life, the Ca Dong people in Bac Tra My district have created many dances such as the ca bo dance, the ra nec dance, the say men ruou dance... to serve the spiritual life of the people after hard working days and during village festivals.
Ms. Ho Thi Thom (Long Son village, Tra Son commune) said: “Coming to Cao Son village, visitors will be able to experience weaving traditional handicraft products, stringing colorful beads which are indispensable jewelry for Ca Dong women. We also make sticky rice, cakes, pounding rice... which will help people understand more about the local traditional life and culture.”
Experience community tourism
In Bac Tra My district, there is a destination this spring serving tourists from near and far, which is the miniature Muong Village in Tra Giang commune. Nearly 40 years of settling in the mountainous district of Bac Tra My, 122 Muong ethnic households with more than 440 people are living in Tra Giang commune, most of whom are Muong people from Lac Son district (Hoa Binh province).
Muong people often play gongs on Independence Day (September 2), Lunar New Year or other festivals of their own ethnic group. The sounds of the small gong and the mother gong will blend together to create a bustling sound. Muong girls dance the Senh Tien dance together to celebrate the harvest season.
Along with that, the Muong people in Tra Giang commune, Bac Tra My district also organize folk games such as throwing con, dancing with bamboo poles, hitting the mam… during holidays and Tet. The hitting the mam game shows the dexterity and agility of the players and the perseverance of the Muong people in conquering the steps from easy to difficult, at the same time showing solidarity and community spirit.
Bac Tra My mountainous district also has many eco-tourism spots with extremely diverse, rich and attractive natural landscapes that tourists can visit in the spring.
These are Song Tranh 2 hydroelectric reservoir, Nuoc Vi waterfall (Tra Kot commune), Nam Tang waterfall (Tra Giang commune), Nuoc Oa waterfall (Tra Tan commune), Ba No waterfall (Tra Bui commune) ..., and the natural river and stream system with a fresh environment. Visitors can also leisurely walk on peaceful sugarcane fields, suspension bridges reflecting in the water.
Mr. Thai Hoang Vu - Chairman of Bac Tra My District People's Committee said that the district has organized many cultural festivals to restore, preserve and introduce local cultural beauty to tourists.
The district also implemented the District Tourism Development Project for the period 2019 - 2025, oriented to 2030 with many tourism promotion activities such as promoting the destination of Bac Tra My on the Vietnam tourism handbook. Building and putting into use the Bac Tra My tourism "app", publishing the Bac Tra My tourism handbook, organizing famtrip groups to survey tourism...
For tourism to develop better, the district has mechanisms and policies to attract and support the development of eco-tourism and community tourism services; build tourism products imbued with the local culture, creating favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to boldly invest in tourism exploitation and development. At the same time, the district also organizes training, professional development, study tours to localities and other units on tourism exploitation and development for officials and people to do better in the coming time.
