The young man who saved his mother and three tourists in a boat capsize on Ha Long Bay was awarded the 'Brave Youth' badge by the Central Youth Union.

On July 21, the Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union organized a ceremony to award the Central Youth Union's Brave Youth Badge to member Dinh Duc Hiep (30 years old, Ha Trung 4 Youth Union branch, Ha Lam Ward, Quang Ninh) for his brave act of saving people in the capsized tourist boat incident in Ha Long Bay.

Authorized by the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Phuong Thao awarded the Brave Youth Badge to Mr. Dinh Duc Hiep.

Accordingly, authorized by the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Phuong Thao directly visited, presented the "Brave Youth" badge and commended the brave spirit of union member Dinh Duc Hiep.

On this occasion, the Standing Committee of Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union also awarded a certificate of merit to Mr. Hiep for his humane and responsible actions.

Mr. Hiep said that on the ship carrying 49 people was his whole family - 8 members. When the ship suddenly tilted and was hit by a storm, Mr. Hiep was still inside, where darkness and seawater seeped into every compartment. His mother was also trapped and having difficulty breathing. In the moment of life and death, she told her son: "Find a way to escape, I can't breathe anymore."

But Hiep did not give up. He tried to pull his mother up, found a way to keep her alive, then dived down to continue saving people.

Mr. Hiep saved his mother, a man, two women, and tried to save another male victim but failed.

Mr. Hiep's brave action not only demonstrates the spirit of "wherever needed, there are young people, wherever difficult, there are young people" but is also a living proof of the kindness, responsibility and bravery of Quang Ninh youth in the most dangerous moments.
