Musician of love and homeland

Trinh Cong Son was not only a musician, he was a poet of music . Each of his songs was a confession about love, about life, about human destiny. In which, love for homeland and country was always a deep source, permeating every note of music.

During the war years, amidst the smoke and fire of bombs, Trinh Cong Son wrote anti-war songs with poignant melodies and humane lyrics. Songs such as: Mother's Legacy, Night Cannon, Yellow-skinned Vietnamese Girl... were not only his own voice, but also the common aspiration of many generations for peace and the desire to live in freedom. He used music to raise the voice of a sorrowful but resilient and indomitable nation.

After 1975, Trinh's music continued to resonate with songs like Mot co di ve (A realm to go back), De gio cuon di (Let the wind roll away), Do you still remember or have you forgotten)... expressing philosophy of life and contemplation of human life. His music at that time was no longer haunted by war, but became songs of love for life, evoking compassion and tolerance.

Lyrics that live forever

Trinh Cong Son's songs are not only well received by the public but also become a source of inspiration for many generations of artists. From Khanh Ly, Hong Nhung, Cam Van, Quang Dung to young artists later, everyone wants to sing Trinh's music at least once, to live in his musical world . Because Trinh Cong Son's lyrics are not simply lyrics, but philosophies of life, deep thoughts about love and life.

"Living in life needs a heart

Even if it's just blown away by the wind…”

Those lyrics have become a compass for many people. Trinh's music is not only to listen to, but also to ponder, to contemplate and to love.

Trinh's death anniversary - Day of kindred spirits

Even though he has passed away, every year on April 1st, Trinh music lovers everywhere still set aside a corner of their hearts to remember him. Music nights are held in many places, from the mountain town of Da Lat, the ancient capital of Hue to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi... for those who are in the same mood to listen together and reminisce together.

At the small house on Duy Tan Street (now Pham Ngoc Thach, Ho Chi Minh City), where he used to live, generations of fans still stop by, light incense, and place a flower, as a way to show respect to the musician who devoted his life to writing love songs for his homeland and the Vietnamese people.

Trinh Cong Son has passed away, but his music has never faded. His songs continue to resonate, connecting souls who love music and life. Trinh's music will forever be an indispensable part of the Vietnamese music treasure, like a cool stream flowing forever in the hearts of those who love beauty, love life, and love their homeland.
