The referee made a serious mistake in MU's match.

The Premier League Referee Management Organization (PGMOL) admitted serious errors in the match where MU lost 1-3 to Brentford in round 6 of the Premier League on September 27.

The referee was wrong in not sending off the Brentford player.

According to revelations from within MU, Howard Webb - head of the Premier League referee management organization (PGMOL), contacted the team directly to confirm that the decision not to send off Nathan Collins was "a clear mistake".

The controversial situation occurred in the 72nd minute, when striker Bryan Mbeumo escaped to face the Brentford goalkeeper and was pulled down by Nathan Collins in the penalty area. The main referee only showed a yellow card, and VAR did not intervene. After the match, the VAR center explained: "Mbeumo did not have complete control of the ball, so there were no conditions to determine a clear scoring opportunity."

However, the MU leadership, including Executive Director Omar Berrada and Technical Director Jason Wilcox, sent a request for clarification to PGMOL. After reviewing the video, Mr. Webb admitted that the above decision was wrong and apologized to the club.

United did not make a public complaint, but insiders said the club appreciated Webb's "candor and transparency". The mistake significantly affected the outcome of the match, when the score was 2-1 to Brentford. If Collins had been sent off, the possibility of United winning at least a point or even winning the match was entirely possible.

With coach Ruben Amorim under great pressure after a series of poor results, the referee's wrong decision is considered a contributing factor to making the "hot seat" at Old Trafford even more shaky.
