Da Nang fishermen earn millions every day after catching tons of shrimp

Tiny shrimp are brought ashore and followed by traders to local markets, helping fishermen "pocket" millions of dong every day.

These days, from early morning, the beach area at the foot of Son Tra peninsula (Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang) is bustling with buyers and sellers of sea shrimp.

Shrimp fishing boats are set off by fishermen from Tho Quang and Man Thai wards (Son Tra district) from around 4 to 5 pm the previous day and arrive at shore at 5:30 am the following morning. Shrimp are transported by basket boats from the boat to shore.

According to many fishermen, this year there are more and bigger sea shrimp than last year, so traders buy a lot. Depending on the quality, size and freshness, the shrimp will cost from 13,000 - 20,000 VND/kg.

"After Tet is the time of the shrimp season. Each boat fishing overnight can collect about 400-500 kg of shrimp. Some days, they can earn up to a million," fisherman Nguyen Thanh (residing in Son Tra district, Da Nang) said excitedly.

After purchasing, the shrimp can be dried for consumption or to make shrimp paste or prepare other dishes.

Each trip out to sea brings in a large amount of shrimp. Many small boats just need to fish close to shore to catch tons of shrimp.

Sea shrimp is also known as shrimp, sea shrimp, starting to appear from around October of the previous year, most abundant from December to the end of the third lunar month of the following year.

After buying fresh grade 1 sea shrimp, traders use motorbikes to carry baskets of shrimp ashore to sell at markets in the city.

Fishermen have a good season and traders are excited to buy, making Tho Quang beach become bustling.
