Previously, according to the traditional medical examination method, each patient had to spend hours to complete registration procedures and wait for test results. Now it is different, just need to have a citizen identification card with chip or medical identification code, the entire file will be processed quickly, personal data and medical examination and treatment history will be automatically displayed on the system, creating convenience for patients. 100% of the reception, medical examination, medicine dispensing, and hospital fee payment processes at the Center are digitized, data is connected to social insurance and the national population platform.
Having had diabetes for many years, Ms. Duong Thi Doi in village 1, Mu Cang Chai commune regularly visits the Center for periodic health check-ups and monitoring. Ms. Doi shared: Now the hospital has implemented electronic medical examination and treatment, so I find it very quick and convenient. When going for a medical examination, I only need to show my ID card to complete the procedure.
In addition, the Center has invested in a system of automatic testing machines, digital X-rays, and modern ultrasounds, directly connected to management software to return results quickly and accurately. In particular, participating in the remote examination and treatment platform (Telehealth) helps the team of doctors at the grassroots level receive professional support from provincial and central hospitals, contributing to improving the effectiveness of treating many difficult cases.

Implementing the direction of the Lao Cai health sector on building a smart hospital, Mu Cang Chai Regional Medical Center has been implementing a specific roadmap, comprehensively digitizing the management process from human resources, finance, medicine, medical supplies to record storage. The electronic medical record system helps to avoid manual recording and increases accuracy and transparency. Specialized departments can connect data and coordinate more conveniently in patient care and treatment.
Starting the trial operation of electronic medical records from September 1, 2025, the Center has arranged technical infrastructure, equipped with computers, printers, and high-speed Internet connection for departments. The Center also trained medical staff and administrative staff on data entry procedures, data security, and skills in using electronic medical records management software. After half a month, the unit's electronic medical records were recognized, opening a new turning point in improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and health care for the people.
Ms. Pham Thi Thanh - Head Nurse, Mu Cang Chai Regional Medical Center said: Implementing electronic medical records helps reduce administrative procedures, creating more convenience for patients in receiving, examining and treating promptly. This activity also shows the practical effectiveness of digital transformation in hospitals and increases patient satisfaction.

After 1 month of implementation, the electronic medical record system has been applied synchronously at the Center. All information related to patients is digitized and stored centrally, making it easy to look up and update patient data promptly and accurately, minimizing errors compared to manual recording.
In addition, medical history information, test results, and diagnostic images are stored and communicated between departments, helping the medical team have a more comprehensive view of the patient's health status and making diagnosis and treatment more accurate and timely. The software also integrates drug interaction warnings and reminders for follow-up appointments, contributing to ensuring safety in treatment.

Digital transformation at Mu Cang Chai Regional Medical Center is an important step in the process of modernizing primary health care, improving service quality, and reducing administrative procedures. This is also the premise for the Center to move towards building a smart hospital in the future, taking care of and protecting people's health better and better.
