Before October 20, rose prices doubled, Lam Dong farmers were happy

On October 19, many rose growers in Lac Duong town (Lac Duong district, Lam Dong province) were very excited because the price of roses doubled or tripled after days of "rock bottom" price reduction. Currently, roses are being purchased at quite high prices, domestic rose varieties are priced at 3,200-3,500 VND/branch; imported rose varieties are priced at 4,000-5,000 VND/branch.

Nowadays, the price of roses is double or triple compared to normal days so people are very excited.

Talking to reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan (Lac Duong town) excitedly said that currently, the price of roses is being purchased by warehouses at prices 2-3 times higher than in September. Ms. Xuan also said that after March 8, the price of roses was only bought from 400-1,000 VND/branch, this price has almost dropped to "bottom".

"My family grows about 1 hectare of roses of all kinds. For 1 rose branch, the cost is about 700 VND, with the current price of 3,200-5,000 VND/branch, I have a profit to make up for the months when rose prices are low," Ms. Xuan shared.

Each rose branch costs about 700 dong.

Mr. Nguyen Hinh, owner of a rose business in Lac Duong town, also said that before October 20, the demand increased so the price of roses also increased quite high. Therefore, this business had to increase packaging and purchasing to meet market demand. Normally, Mr. Hinh's business packages and supplies about 8,000-9,000 flower branches/day to the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City markets. However, close to October 20, he is supplying 20,000-25,000 branches/day.

A representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lac Duong district said that the district currently has more than 400 hectares of roses of all kinds, mainly concentrated in Lac Duong town. The annual rose output is about 1.2 billion branches. Currently, Lac Duong district is also building the Langbiang Rose brand to increase the value of local production.
