Before March 8, in the fresh flower market in Hanoi , the price of roses had increased by one and a half times, surprising many customers.

Flower price fever is approaching

According to a survey conducted on March 4 at several flower shops in Hanoi, the current price of roses ranges from 20,000 to 30,000 VND/flower depending on the type. Some establishments still maintain the listed price of 15,000 VND, but most of them have increased by one and a half times compared to normal days.

In addition to roses, tulips also increased from 30,000 VND to 45,000 VND per flower. Ms. Dang Huong Giang, owner of a flower shop on Nguyen Trai Street, said that in recent days, flower prices have changed constantly, one price today, another price tomorrow. Especially roses - the most popular flower - are only imported in small quantities because the supply is scarce, and are expected to be sold out by the holiday.

The increase in flower prices has surprised many buyers. Ms. Thao Anh (Cau Giay District, Hanoi) said that she rarely buys flowers, only buying them on special occasions to give to family and relatives. " Last week, I asked the price of a bouquet of red roses at the market for 150,000 VND. Now, when I ask again, the price has increased to 250,000 VND, and the seller also said that it will increase even more on International Women's Day, March 8," Ms. Thao Anh shared.

Some flower businesses predict that fresh flower prices will continue to increase gradually and sharply in the next few days, closer to March 8 when demand peaks.

How do buyers manage?

Given the current situation of the flower market, especially roses, many customers choose to buy flowers and order flowers early from the beginning of March to avoid the peak season. Others switch to alternative flowers such as chrysanthemums, baby flowers, hydrangeas, etc. or choose to buy flowers online to get more stable prices.

Mr. Hoang Tri, an office worker in Hanoi, shared that every year on March 8, flower prices usually increase by about 30%, even 50% compared to normal days. Therefore, he often chooses and orders flowers about a week in advance to avoid the situation of running out of flowers on the day before the holiday, and also accepts that the prices will be a little higher on the holiday.

Customers who have time also choose to buy flowers at wholesale markets instead of stores to get a "softer" price. In addition to roses, the most popular but also the most expensive flower, consumers are gradually switching to other flowers such as baby flowers, sunflowers, chrysanthemums... with more stable prices.

According to the recommendations of some flower business owners, on holidays, customers should order flowers early to get better prices and avoid out of stock situations. Because, many people have a subjective mentality, only starting to buy flowers on holidays, when the price of flowers can double the normal price.
