Ho Chi Minh City University of Education welcomes nearly 400 new students majoring in Preschool Education

GD&TĐ - On the afternoon of September 7, the Faculty of Preschool Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education held a welcoming ceremony for 398 new students of Course 51.

Of these, there are 250 new students studying at the main campus of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and 148 new students from branches in Long An and Gia Lai.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Bui Hong Quan - Head of the Faculty of Preschool Education , Ho Chi Minh City University of Education said: This year, the number of students registering for the Preschool Education major has increased significantly compared to last year.

The number of candidates taking the aptitude test has increased nearly fourfold (in 2024 there were about 1,000 candidates taking the aptitude test, this year there were nearly 4,000 candidates). The input quality has improved, so the quality of new students is also higher. The benchmark score for this major in 2024 was 24.24 points, while this year it increased to 26.05 points.

Through this, it can be seen that the position of preschool teachers is gradually being improved. With the impact of the Education Law, policies for preschool teachers are also increasingly concerned.

Upon graduation, if students become teachers at public kindergartens in Ho Chi Minh City, the locality will have its own specific policies for the teaching staff.

Dr. Bui Hong Quan shared: "The Early Childhood Education major is increasingly attracting male students. For example, before 2023, the faculty had almost no male students. However, in 2024 and 2025, each year the faculty had one male student studying. We always hope that the faculty will have more male students. Because early childhood education is not only for female teachers, but male preschool teachers can also undertake and do this job very well."

Also at the event welcoming new students of the Early Childhood Education major, the organizing committee awarded the Valedictorian and Salutatorian; and held a discussion with the theme "The Power of Belief".

The discussion attracted the attention of many students with the participation of many prominent guests such as: Musician Nguyen Van Chung - author of a series of "hits" such as Continuing the story of peace , Pain in the midst of peace (soundtrack of the film Red Rain); Mr. Vo Minh Toai - 1st runner-up of Mr. World Vietnam 2024, 2nd runner-up of The Face Vietnam 2023, founder of the project English For The Blind - English for the visually impaired; MSc. Pham Cong Nhat - National communications director of DOL English system, journalism lecturer (Deakin system, Australia) at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh National University; Mr. Luu Hoang Phuc - who won the title of Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City, National Outstanding Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings, Outstanding Young Teacher at the Central level.

Le Trung Nghia, the only male student among the 51st class of new students majoring in Early Childhood Education, shared: "I heard from my family members that the teachers at the kindergarten at that time took good care of me and treated me like their own child. That feeling has left a deep sense of gratitude in me. Therefore, when faced with choosing a career, I was determined to pass the entrance exam to the Early Childhood Education major at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education."
