On the morning of August 18, the Vietnam Summer School on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing opened at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE, Quy Nhon Nam Ward, Gia Lai), gathering nearly 50 scientists, researchers and students from 10 countries and territories.

The program is organized by Rencontres du Vietnam in collaboration with ICISE Center. This is the first time this international academic event has been held in Vietnam, attracting the attention of many young people who love science .

This summer school has the participation of many world- leading experts such as Professor Claude Fabre (Sorbonne University, France), Professor Kieu Tien Dung (Swinburne University of Technology, Australia), Associate Professor Dr. Rahul Maitra (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay), Associate Professor Dr. Le Bin Ho (Tohoku University, Japan)... In particular, the program also marked the presence of Mr. Denis Fourmeau, Attaché for Scientific Cooperation and Higher Education, French Embassy in Vietnam.

Why is artificial intelligence important to young people?

Artificial intelligence and quantum computing are becoming the pillars of the new technological era, strongly impacting healthcare, finance, materials science, logistics, etc. Over the past two decades, from drug research, cryptography to quantum communication, the world has witnessed many revolutionary achievements.

For students, access to these technology platforms not only expands career opportunities, but also trains critical thinking and creativity, which are indispensable in the digital age. The Vietnam Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing is the place to nurture that aspiration.

The unique feature of the program is the combination of in-depth theory and creative practice. Students will listen to lectures directly from international professors, participate in discussions, group work, research presentations and academic debates.

Topics range from quantum mechanics, qubits, quantum gates, quantum technology with ion and photon traps… to modern AI fields such as natural language processing (NLP), generative AI, and agent AI. Students also practice on Qaptiva and OpenVQE platforms, turning knowledge into practical applications.

International knowledge bridge

According to the organizers, the biggest goal of the Vietnam Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing is to become a "bridge of knowledge", where scientists and young intellectuals share experiences, inspire ideas and open up new research directions.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai province, emphasized: "The Vietnam Summer School on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing is not only a learning opportunity but also a forum for young people to directly exchange with experts, foster research inspiration and expand international cooperation."

According to Mr. Denis Fourmeau, through the quantum physics conferences, the cosmology conferences, the neutrino physics conferences, ICISE is approaching with the same admirable energy both the vast domains: the infinitely small and the infinitely large. Here, the most fundamental questions for the understanding of our universe are being discussed. These scientific fields are inherently areas that strongly promote international cooperation, and can only be built on a foundation of partnership, sharing and trust.

Mr. Denis Fourmeau also emphasized that science is the foundation of peace, because only cooperation, sharing and trust can help humanity move forward. "ICISE is not only a place to hold conferences but also a space of friendship, openness and creativity. This is an irreplaceable tool for scientific cooperation between France and Vietnam," he said.

Also on the morning of August 18, the International Flavor Physics Conference 2025 opened at ICISE, gathering nearly 60 scientists from 18 countries. The conference had 56 reports on hot topics of modern physics: neutrinos, leptons, dark region physics, CP symmetry violation... This is a forum held every 3 years connecting the world's leading theoretical and experimental physicists.
