Phu Ninh Commune relocates people from landslide-prone areas to ensure safety of constructions.

DNO - Responding to storm No. 12, Phu Ninh commune organized forces to go to each household in areas at risk of landslides and floods to propagate and sign commitments to evacuate to a safe place before 5:00 p.m. on October 22.

The People's Committee of Phu Ninh commune assigned members of the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of the commune to coordinate with the People's Committees of 8/15 villages at risk of landslides (6 villages in the old Tam Lanh commune) to mobilize people to evacuate to safe places (interspersed and concentrated).

At the same time, a 24/7 working group was established in the old Tam Lanh commune to direct disaster prevention and control work in areas at high risk of landslides.

By noon on October 22, villages in areas at risk of localized flooding and landslides had completed screening, mobilizing and signing commitments with 150 households to comply with the evacuation of people and property to safety.

Assigned to stand guard at Bong Mieu village, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Cau, Chief of Phu Ninh Commune Police, said that the village has 39 households that need to be evacuated to a safe place and the households have signed a commitment to relocate.

Implementing the response plan for storm No. 12, the Commune Police coordinated with local forces to mobilize people. Organized forces to clear trees along the roads; prepared vehicles and necessities to ensure good implementation of the "4 on-site" motto.

The Commune People's Committee requested agencies and units to strictly implement the directives, proactively prevent natural disasters, and ensure safety for people, houses and construction works. The locality strives to minimize human and property damage caused by rain and storms.

According to Mr. Le Van Tinh, Vice Chairman of Phu Ninh Commune People's Committee, the Commune People's Committee requested the construction contractor to strictly implement the provisions of the law on ensuring labor safety and traffic safety and order; proactively develop plans to mobilize machinery, equipment and human resources to respond to and overcome the consequences of storms and floods.

“For constructions with deep holes and high excavation areas at risk of flooding, the commune leaders requested the construction unit to urgently install barriers and warning signs to ensure safety and absolutely prevent drowning accidents.

Consulting, project management and supervision units are responsible for checking and reminding contractors to implement safety measures," said Mr. Tinh.
