On October 7, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that the admission method for next year will have many changes. In addition to a small portion of the direct admission quota according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , the rest, the school plans to consider a combination of many factors including: high school graduation exam scores, capacity assessment, academic records and other outstanding achievements.

Among these elements, Mr. Nhan said that the high school graduation exam scores and capacity assessment will have a larger weight. The detailed ratio will be calculated and announced by the school later.

"The comprehensive admission process will evaluate comprehensively and fairly and help the school recruit the right candidates. This is just a tentative plan, and will be adjusted depending on the official admission regulations of the Ministry," said Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan.

In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry has maintained four main methods, including: considering high school graduation exam scores; academic transcript results; Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment scores and direct admission.

IUH's expected admission method is similar to the combined admission method applied by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology from 2022 to present. About 95-99% of the school's enrollment quota will be based on the total score of academic performance, achievements in literature, sports and arts, and priority points (if any).

At the Higher Education Conference on September 18, the Ministry of Education and Training asked for opinions from schools on whether to abolish or maintain the consideration of high school transcripts. This year's admission season, about 42.4% of nearly 850,000 candidates registered for admission based on this score, which is the largest group. Next is the group based on graduation exam scores (39.1%), the rest are in 15 other methods.

Many admissions experts believe that we should keep considering academic records but need to regulate the quota ratio for this method or consider combining this score with other abilities.
