Dong A University launches mental health care program for students in the Central Highlands

DNVN - On the morning of October 9, commemorating World Mental Health Day October 10, Dong A University organized the program "Mental health at school - Identifying and responding to risks in the digital age".

The program was attended by more than 30 representatives of the school board, teachers, school psychology officers from high schools in Da Nang city, lecturers and more than 500 students of Psychology and Pedagogy at Dong A University. At the program, the topic "Mental health at school - Identifying and responding to risks in the digital age" was directly led and delivered by Dr. of Psychology To Nhi A.

Through vivid and familiar real-life stories, psychologist Dr. To Nhi A has “named” the mental risks in the digital age when social networks become “second classrooms” with “invisible competitions”, negative social comparisons, pressure for achievement and publicity, the intrusion of the virtual world … From there, suggest solutions to cope with and restore mental health – the “hidden” part of learning and career orientation capacity, helping students proactively set safe boundaries for their minds.

At the same time, the series of mental health care programs for high school students in the Central Highlands in 2026 of Dong A University was also officially launched. Accordingly, with the theme of "Mental health at school - Identifying and responding to risks in the digital age", the first program will be carried out at Vo Chi Cong High School (Da Nang City) in the afternoon of the same day.

Directly accompanying the psychological counseling, screening and mental health care activities for high school students are doctors and psychologists from the Young Lion Institute for Soft Skills Research and Training - Dong A University. In addition, high school students will also receive smart career orientation counseling from experts through the experience of the CIC career test set.

This is the ultimate test that helps students rank the suitability of all occupations in society, based on comparing the “Criteria for each occupation” with the characteristics of Intelligence - Interest - Personality & expectations of students.

This is the third consecutive year that the Dong A University mental health care program for high school students has come to high schools in the Central Highlands. The program is expected to be implemented from October 2025 to the end of March 2026 at high schools in Da Nang, Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak ... with more than 10,000 students participating.

According to Dr. Lam Tu Trung - Vice President of the Vietnam Psychotherapy Association, Director of the Center for Counseling and Mental Health Care at Dong A University, the mental health care program for high school students in the Central Highlands in 2026 is implemented on the basis of closely following Circular 18/2025/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training guiding school counseling and social work in schools. The program is built and designed to advise, guide careers, support issues related to learning, gender, social relationships, psychology and life skills for learners."

Mr. Phan Dinh Hung - Vice Principal of Nguyen Trai High School (Da Nang City) commented that the mental health care program for high school students initiated and implemented by Dong A University is very suitable and very important in the high school education environment in the present era.

The program helps educational administrators and school psychologists identify the mental health of students and teachers, and thereby learn how to prevent and improve mental health of individuals and in schools.

High school students really need counseling content on mental health, learning motivation and career orientation, helping them identify themselves, have a suitable way of living and learning, practice, improve mental health to have joy and motivation to study.

It is known that after 2 years of implementation, the series of mental health care programs for high school students of Dong A University 2024 and 2025 has accompanied more than 20,000 students in the Central Highlands provinces.
