October 2025 is still the peak of the storm season in our country, especially in the Central region. It is forecasted that from now until the end of the month, there will be 1-2 more storms or tropical depressions appearing in the East Sea, of which there may be 1 storm or tropical depression that directly affects our mainland, most likely affecting the weather in the Central region.
Cold air may become stronger from mid-October. It is forecasted that cold air may become stronger in November-December 2025. Notably, severe cold in the North may appear from the second half of December (similar to the average of many years).
Storms and cold air are both forms that can cause heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, thunder, and strong gusts of wind in the Central region. In particular, the area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will have 10-30% more rain than the average of many years, leading to the risk of flooding in riverside areas, inundation in low-lying areas, urban areas and landslides and flash floods in mountainous areas.
Assessing the natural disaster situation, the Department of Hydrometeorology said that since the beginning of the year, natural disasters have been complicated, unusual and more extreme than the average of many years. In particular, natural disasters are concentrated with high danger levels in the Northern, North Central and Central Central regions.
Natural disasters occur with fierce intensity and have a wide range of impacts. The 2025 storm season recorded rare extreme numbers in terms of intensity, frequency and scope of influence. In the past 9 months alone, the East Sea has seen 14 storms and tropical depressions, much higher than the average of many years. Of these, 6 storms have directly and indirectly affected our country, creating a series of consecutive natural disasters, with almost no break long enough to overcome the consequences.
