From Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, many large and small purchasing points have posted advertisements to search for and purchase clothes by weight from domestic fashion brands. At the beginning of the new season, this is even more bustling, Ms. Phuong Nhung (41 years old, Hanoi) said jokingly: "The autumn-winter fashion week for those who love secondhand clothes has begun. The shop owner just texted me to come see the new items on display, all the clothes are from the previous fashion season, 80-90% new".
Purchase directly from users and stores, fashion brands
The core difference of domestic circulating fashion "used goods" is the source of goods. No longer dependent on imported used goods from the US, Europe, Japan, which carry many risks in terms of quality, size and are often out of fashion, goods purchased by weight mainly come from the inventories of Vietnamese brands, some others are imported but sold in stock from domestic stores or resold by users. Most of them are new, with very high usage value.

Wearing beautiful clothes that are not too out of fashion and are cheap is the dream of many fashionistas.

The purchasing method is very simple and quick, call or text Zalo; send photos and quantity of goods to be liquidated, the units will come to the place to assess and pay on the spot. Depending on the model, product brand, quality of goods and quantity of liquidation, the price is determined but will fluctuate from 90,000 VND - 120,000 VND/kg. Compared to retail or consignment, the price of collecting by weight like this is not too much of a loss for the seller.
Online (and direct) purchasing units such as "Specializing in purchasing liquidated clothing and inventory items", "General liquidation of consignment of clothing in Hanoi ", "Clothing purchasing service in Hanoi", "She by CQ", "Rescue inventory 24/7"... or community groups such as "Addicted to local brands", "Liquidation of local brands Vietnam"... currently have tens of thousands of members, posting hundreds of articles on purchasing and selling every week, creating a vibrant and attractive niche market. A typical post of purchasing pages (pages) includes very clear ideas such as: clothes, shoes, bags, unused items, used items that are still 90% new, inventory - old season fashion items, odd sizes, out of trend, closed shops. And they all emphasize: do not purchase imported used goods...
New consumer trends
In the context of the fast-paced fashion market, with new collections being launched each season, the issue of old inventory has become a difficult problem for many brands, stores and even individual shoppers. Not only does it take up warehouse space and cause financial pressure when capital is "buried", but goods are also susceptible to deterioration and loss of value if exposed to humid weather - which is common in the North.

Communities that buy "90% new" items show that young people are willing to join sustainable consumption, as long as it is still fashionable and unique.

The owner of a women's fashion store in Cau Giay Ward, Hanoi said: "The North has 4 seasons, the weather changes rapidly, sometimes I have a headache with the chemicals in the warehouse, it takes up space and I worry about mold causing the clothes to lose value. Even though I try to hang a sale sign up to 70-80% right from the middle of the season, it is still difficult to sell out. Since cooperating with the purchasing unit, I feel much more relieved. They come to the place to appraise, buy and pay immediately. The warehouse is freed, I have capital to rotate to import new models, not being behind the market."
Meanwhile, Thu Trang (20 years old, Hanoi) said: "Students like us love domestic fashion brands but don't have much money. Buying products collected by weight is very beneficial. The goods are mainly last season's inventory, 80-90% new, more fashionable than imported second-hand clothes. It helps me save more money and look better. The feeling of hunting for my favorite branded items for the price of just a few cups of milk tea is also very nice...".
The trend of purchasing clothes by weight is gradually replacing the traditional model of importing used goods, which has many potential risks in terms of quality and waste. Focusing on domestic inventory and used but still new goods not only forms a professional and sustainable fashion cycle with a clear collection - classification - pricing process, but also helps to ensure abundant supply, trendy products, helping consumers access items that are not too out of fashion, supporting Vietnamese brands in the direction of sustainable development, contributing to reducing global waste pressure.
