Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, is in Hanoi this morning (April 15). "There is no place like Vietnam, a vibrant and beautiful country. I am extremely excited to be here to connect with students, innovators and customers, to learn more about the diversity in how they use our products to do extraordinary things," Apple shared Tim Cook's message.

According to Forbes data, CEO Tim Cook is worth $2.1 billion and is the 1,585th richest person in the world . He asked for a pay cut in 2023 after his huge compensation package in previous years caused controversy among Apple shareholders.

According to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Tim Cook's total compensation in 2023 will be $49 million, 40% lower than his total pay in 2022.

The SEC filing also revealed that the majority of Apple's CEO's salary is more dependent on the company's actual performance. He said his decision to reduce his salary was to ease the burden on the company and employees, and to show confidence that the corporation will overcome current difficulties to continue to lead the technology industry.

Apple CEO has spent part of his fortune investing in real estate. Tim Cook's main residence is a 2,400 square meter house in Palo Alto, California (USA).

According to Business Insider , Tim Cook joined Apple as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations. Tim Cook had to make difficult decisions such as closing many manufacturing plants, cutting the number of Apple suppliers, outsourcing when possible and reducing the company's inventory.

After joining Apple, Tim Cook helped reduce the corporation's unsold inventory from $400 million to just $78 million in just over half a year.

In 2007, Tim Cook was promoted to head the entire company's operations. In 2009, when Steve Jobs was absent due to health reasons, Tim Cook took over as interim CEO. He was appointed Apple's CEO in 2011.

Since taking over as CEO, Cook has overseen the launch of new Apple products like the Apple Watch and AirPods. The company's revenue and profits have more than doubled in his first 10 years at the helm.
