Applying technology and robots to develop a sustainable marine economy

(NLDO)- Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) is a forum for scientists, businesses and managers to create technological solutions for a sustainable marine economy.

On the morning of October 1 in Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) in collaboration with Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee organized the International Conference "Ocean Future 2025" and the Award Ceremony of the 4th International Design Competition.

This year’s conference brought together nearly 50 scientists with more than 30 presentations from many countries such as the US, Korea, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore. Experts analyzed the relationship between technology, public health and coastal urban development.

Many opinions say that, besides exploiting the sea with technology, Khanh Hoa needs to focus on developing living spaces that adapt to climate change, associated with circular economy and green finance.

The author team of Dr. Julia Babcock, Dr. Chu Manh Trinh, Dr. Christopher Han, focused on presenting applications of advanced technologies such as remote sensing, marine robots, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), artificial intelligence, along with monitoring systems and digital twin models of the marine environment.

These technologies not only contribute to improving research capacity, governance, and sustainable exploitation of ocean resources, but also play a key role in realizing the pillars of the blue economy.

According to Khanh Hoa province leaders, the workshop is an important opportunity for the locality to affirm its development orientation associated with modern technology, turning Khanh Hoa into a center of marine-based growth. "Governments, universities and businesses need to closely cooperate, creating an innovative ecosystem so that a sustainable marine economy can truly become a driving force for development," the provincial representative emphasized.

In parallel with the workshop, the 4th International Design Competition for domestic and foreign students aimed at researching the reconstruction of the Cai River (Nha Trang) landscape. The winning ideas all focused on exploiting cultural and ecological values, while also providing solutions for green urban planning, developing public spaces and integrating climate change adaptation technology.

The event affirmed the role of UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang as an international knowledge connection center in the Central region, accompanying the locality in creating technological - academic - practical solutions for the blue ocean economy.

This is also a testament to Khanh Hoa's new direction: development based on the sea, technology and innovation, towards a sustainable future.
