The National Competition Commission - Ministry of Industry and Trade has just received a report from Xiaomi Vietnam Co., Ltd. on the recall of the Xiaomi 33W Power Bank 20000 mAh (Integrated Cable) backup battery product, model PB2030MI.

The recall was initiated due to the risk of overheating of the product under certain conditions of use, posing a fire or explosion risk. The cause was determined to be related to the raw material from the supplier.

Recently, the General Administration of Market Regulation of China (SAMR) announced that it has directed Romoss, Anker and Xiaomi to recall more than 1.35 million power banks due to the risk of explosion.

Specifically, Romoss recalled 167,000 units and refunded 22.84 million yuan (equivalent to 3.2 million USD); Anker recalled 565,000 units and refunded 85.66 million yuan (equivalent to 12 million USD); Xiaomi recalled 17,000 units and refunded 2.7 million yuan (equivalent to 0.38 million USD).

The recall is currently only in China, no global information available.

In Vietnam, Romoss and Anke have not announced any recalls related to the above shipments. According to records, the products of the two companies are still widely sold in stores and e-commerce platforms.

Previously, in June 2025, Anker said it had proactively recalled four models of backup batteries in Vietnam to prevent explosions, although no damage was recorded. The reason for the recall was due to Amprius battery cell defects.

Experts recommend that users only choose genuine backup batteries with safety certification, and avoid counterfeit goods.

During use, do not charge while using, do not charge overnight and store the battery in a cool place, avoid high temperature, humidity or near flammable materials.

If you suspect the battery is overheating or are concerned about a fire or explosion, you should contact the place of purchase directly for advice and treatment. At the same time, you need to periodically check the battery, if you detect swelling, unusual heat or a burning smell, you must stop using it immediately.
