Responding to Storm No. 10: Hue calls on ships to enter safe anchorage

To proactively respond to No. 10, the Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors and localities to focus on closely monitoring information on storm, rain and flood forecasts; promptly direct and deploy response work according to the "four on-site" motto according to assigned tasks and authorities, not to be passive or surprised to ensure safety of life and minimize property damage to people.

In addition, the Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee requested the City Border Guard Command to coordinate with the Maritime Port Authority, the Fisheries Sub-Department, and the Hue Coastal Information Station to organize guidance for vehicles and boats to ensure safety for boats at anchorages and ports, including calling on boats to enter safe anchorages before 7:00 a.m. on September 27.

The City Military Command and the City Police directed forces stationed in the area to review response plans, proactively organize and deploy forces and vehicles to be ready to support localities in responding to storms, evacuating people, rescuing and saving victims; and have plans to support people in harvesting rice.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment directs and urges localities to deploy work to ensure the safety of irrigation dams, especially key dams, to prevent unexpected incidents, and to inspect and review plans to ensure the safety of aquaculture ponds, cages, storm shelters, and livestock facilities.

The Department of Science and Technology directed the Smart City Monitoring and Operation Center to increase the application, switchboard 19001075, smart broadcasting, increase the length of news bulletins to authorities and people at all levels to proactively prevent; directed telecommunication units and enterprises VNPT, Viettel... to have plans to ensure smooth communication to serve the direction.

The Department of Tourism directs tourism service establishments, entertainment establishments along the coast, rivers, streams, camping and outdoor picnic areas... to have plans to ensure safety for tourists.

The Department of Education and Training and Hue University reviewed plans for natural disaster prevention and control; directed schools and educational and training establishments in the city to check and reinforce the green tree system and teaching equipment, ensuring absolute safety for students and teachers.

The Department of Construction directs inspections to ensure traffic safety and traffic infrastructure and construction works in case of natural disasters, and warns people to ensure safety when moving through underground areas, overflows, etc.

The City Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited coordinates with localities to proactively operate and open sluices through the dyke and Thao Long dam to ensure flood drainage for the delta region...

Currently, storm No. 10 has entered the East Sea, the strongest wind near the storm center is level 11, gusting to level 14 and is likely to strengthen. This is a very fast moving storm at about 35km/hour (twice the speed of normal storms), the storm's intensity is very strong, the area of influence is wide, can cause combined impacts of many types of natural disasters such as strong winds, heavy rain, floods, flash floods, landslides and coastal flooding; the storm circulation causes heavy rain in the Northern and North Central regions, commonly from 200-400mm, locally over 600mm, which is an area that has suffered heavy damage from storm No. 3, storm No. 5 and floods in the recent past.
